The helicopter made a hard landing around noon in the Sherman Oaks area near U.S. 101, according to Fire Department reports.

The aircraft did not catch fire, and nobody on the ground was hurt. Televised reports showed the helicopter on a small street in a leafy neighborhood of single-family homes. Its rotor blades appeared to be bent and yellow water-landing pontoons had been deployed.

Four people who were on board appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials reported.

The helicopter, a Robinson R44, is registered to National Helicopter Service, based in nearby Van Nuys, California. The company’s website indicates that it offers helicopters for tours, chartered flights, aerial cinematography and engineering services.

A woman who answered the phone at the company declined to immediately comment.
