The assessors announced they will recommend that the state renew Monroe’s accreditation, a mark of prestige worn by only three other Orange County departments – Woodbury, New Windsor and Cornwall.
The state Department of Criminal Justice Services accredits police agencies that meet 130 professional standards and then re-evaluates them every five years for renewal. Monroe first got its accreditation in 2001.
