Rabbi Yaffe was the mashgiach of Yeshiva Knesses Chizkiyahu in Kfar Chasidim, one of the earliest Lithuanian yeshivos to be established in Israel. After Rabbi Eliyahu Lopian’s passing in 1970, Rabbi Yaffe succeeded him as the mashgiach at the yeshiva, which was founded under the guidance of the Chazon Ish.
Well known as a prominent baal mussar who was able to deliver his words of guidance with a gentle smile, Rabbi Yaffe’s health had deteriorated in recent months, as reported by Israeli news site Kikar HaShabat (http://bit.ly/2AsEfjH).
Rabbi Yaffe also served as mashgiach at Yeshiva Kol Yaakov in Jerusalem and Yeshiva Keren Ora in Karmiel and he would speak numerous times every week on mussar-related topics.
Rabbi Yaffe’s funeral began at 12:30 this afternoon in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya, continuing at 3 PM at Yeshiva Kol Yaakov and concluding 8 PM at Yeshiva Knesses Chizkiyahu with burial in Rechasim.
