Jacksonville, FL -  Police say they stopped a man from carrying out a planned mass shooting at a Florida Islamic center.

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams announced Monday that police arrested 69-year-old Bernardino Gawala Bolatete after he tried to buy a gun silencer from an undercover officer.

Police began investigating Bolatete after receiving a tip from a confidential source that Bolatete was planning a mass shooting at the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida.

An undercover officer contacted him and arranged the sale of the silencer. During taped conversations, Bolatete repeated his plans for the shooting.

He was arrested Friday after the silencer was delivered.

Williams said Bolatete already had the weaponry necessary to carry out the attack.

Bolatete is being held by the FBI and more charges could be filed. It was not known if he has an attorney.

Give him the death penalty. Plan and simple .Dont waste tax payer dollars to jail him . Yes this is the real Archy and despite my disdain of Muslims violence cannot be tolerated at all . And the death peanlty should be appropriate for even attemp of mass murder .

"Silencer" is misnomer. These devices are properly called suppressors and, contrary to how they are often portrayed in movies and media, they do not make a gun shot sound like "PFFT". A good suppressor will lower the sound of the muzzle blast around 30-35db, from around the 160db of a normal gun shot to around 130db, still quite loud but much less damaging to the shooter's hearing. In the sniper role the rifle's report is suppressed to a level that is inaudible above background noise at usual sniping distances. Note that only the report is suppressed. The supersonic shock wave of the bullet passing is still quite audible to bystanders. The target knows he is being shot at but cannot tell from where.

Yonason, you mentioned previously you worked for law enforcement. Is it on a national, state or local level and is it NY?
