Brooklyn, NY - The NYPD is turning to the public for assistance and hoping that recently released video footage will help them identify a pair of men who passed themselves off as police officers before robbing two people on the outskirts of Borough Park this past summer.

Police said that a 46 year old man was in front of 813 55th Street on August 10th, 2017 at 11 PM when he was approached by two black men who flashed police shields at him before placing him in handcuffs.

The suspects drove the victim around in a vehicle before robbing him of $1,600, a Chase card, an iPhone and jewelry.

The suspects then entered the victim’s residence near 51st Street and 8th Avenue at approximately 3 AM and tied up a 50 year old woman before leaving the apartment with $1,000 and jewelry.  The two men left in a minivan, heading in an unknown direction.

Both victims declined medical attention.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline by phone at 800-577-TIPS, by text at 247637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577 or online at www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.

Do they seriously think that someone could identify anyone in that video?
"Hello, Crime Stoppers? Yeah, you know that video about the robbery suspects? See, in that video there's a black guy in a hoodie. Well, I was on the D train about a week or two ago, and I'm 100% sure there was a black guy wearing a hoodie in the next car. How much is my reward?"

It's not only about face recognition. It's about body weight, height and movements that are looked at as well not to mention modus operandi.

remember the Kenyan's imaginery thug son trayvon martin was wearing a hoodie when he went to ROB people and it was considered RACIST (what else) to stop someone wearing one.
