During interviews Wednesday with NY1 and WCBS 880, the Democratic governor said the Republican president is using the “Gateway Project” as a pawn in a political chess game with New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer.
The project calls for building a new tunnel linking New Jersey and Manhattan to alleviate traffic on two century-old rail tunnels.
On Tuesday, Trump’s transportation secretary said the two states need to put up more money to pay for the estimated $13 billion project.
Cuomo noted that New York and New Jersey have pledged to cover half the cost, but said the federal government needs to contribute.
those who are in to history know that these two century-old rail tunnels.were paid for privetley by the old Pennsylvania railroad which the old pen station which was torn down in the early sixty’s to make room for today’s Madison square garden.
what i think president trump is saying is as follows. if private money paid for it then , then lets get more private money involved for this project.
second , we all know that all big projects that are done here have large cost overruns , and president trump wants no part of that.

He’s full of it
Soon he will have people leaving both states and people getting rid of their cars. They will buy new wherever they go. New York and New Jersey will both lose thanks to Trump!!
True politicians always made deals. Some deals were to benefit their constituents, some benefitted their pockets. Seem to me that schumer does not want to deal.
