He tweeted Sunday: “I have many (too many!) lawyers and they are probably wondering when their offices, and even homes, are going to be raided with everything, including their phones and computers, taken. All lawyers are deflated and concerned!”

Cohen has been ordered to appear Monday in federal court in New York for arguments over last week’s raid. Cohen’s attorneys want prosecutors ordered to temporarily halt an examination of the seized material, saying it’s protected by attorney-client privilege.

The raid sought information on a $130,000 payment made to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who alleges she had sex with a married Trump in 2006. He denies it.

    This is obscene, really.

When seeking a warrant to search an attorney’s office – not to mention his home and hotel room in addition to his office – standards prosecutors have to meet are extraordinarily high. Not only must the court be persuaded that there is probable cause that a crime has been committed, but also that the targeted of the warrant is likely to destroy papers and other evidence of that crime were a subpoena to be issued.

Everything coming out about Cohen “deflates” the legal profession…as well as his client, a “slime ball” who had already debased and lowered the presidency to a gutter level truly without precedent.

If what Trump means, is that lawyers will be afraid to be involved in criminal activity, then the FBI is doing a good job.

Lawyers are there to advise people of their legal options, not to encourage criminal activity and then hide under the curtain of “attorney client privilege”.

    Interesting question.

If a lawyer is negotiating a business deal (not merely giving legal advice) covered under attorney client privilege?

Does the fact that someone has an attorney license subject it to attorney client privilege?

From as far as I read, attorney client privilege covers only legal advise, as long the conversation wasn’t a crime by itself (like conspiring to commit a crime, or lying ot the FBI).

    Interesting question.
Can a Criminal hire a lawyer to do criminal activities and not be subject to jail?
If let say Rubashkin would have had an attorney doing all the sticks for him both would be innocents?
