Jerusalem – Police have arrested a haredi man from Ramat Beit Shemesh who was videoed hitting women with a pipe as part of a vigilante ‘modesty patrol’.

The man can be seen in the video ordering the horrified women to “go home” on the eve of Yom Ha’atzmaut while menacingly wielding a rubber pipe. The clip went viral in Israel, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and causing an outcry on social media.
On Saturday night, the man was arrested by police, who told the Behadrei Haredim website that he was well known to local authorities due to his radical activities. He was released shortly after on bail and police have opened an investigation.
Ramat Beit Shemesh has been the center of increasingly divisive battles over the past few years as a large influx of radical haredim have battled with the Religious Zionist and secular residents over the city’s nature.
The video doesn’t show him hitting them.

These ‘taliban types have to be educated. Israel is a democratic nation and doesn’t have a population of only extremely observant jews who may dictate their morals on society .If a person can’t live in a pluralistic society , than move elsewhere.

Know this – every guy that obsess about these things and joins a modesty patrol is a PERVERT himself. Time and time again we have seen this – The modesty patrol in Williamsburg was shut down due to the exposure of many of its members. In my yeshiva days, there has this one farfrumter guy, at night pasting up the office window of the secretary facing the hallway used by boys needing anything. A year later he was caught as a common denominator to having inappropriate dealings with several boys in the dorm.
One famous story is – one of the members of this patrol who used the tactic of following behind people accused of “not being modest” and shouting to embarrasses them was set up. He was lured to a quiet street, ambushed pulled into a alleyway (not beaten) but had all this clothes removed. There is laughter till today, how he went crazy desperately knocking on doors to let him in while being stark naked. I think they counted 8 houses until his embarrassment finally came to an end. (A pity it was not video-taped). This bum on the video should be done the same thing – send out a girl with short sleeves to lure him in, for some good psychological “restructuring” treatment.

the fact that the video does not show him hitting anyone with the rubber pipe, does not mean that he did not do it, rather it means that the person who took the video did it after he hit some one and then threatened others….

It’s rather shameful really and as such easily qualifies as “FakeNews”.
You report that “the man was videoed hitting women with a pipe”. He was not!
In fact they were laughing and giggling as he gently and lethargically admonished them to go home. Towards the end of the clip one woman jokingly asks him not to smack her, to which he replies, “I’m not going to”. He didn’t even raise the pipe in any threatening manner toward the women.
If there is a video of him hitting the women or even holding the pipe over them in a threatening manner, please display it since that would make it a very different scenario, altogether. However just to report that he was hitting them when the video clearly shows otherwise seems mean-spirited to me.

I just noticed that he says starting at 5 seconds into the clip (ending at 8) and I quote word for word, “I am not going to hit anyone, go home”.
In Hebrew:

At 18 seconds, right at the very end, he once again repeats, “I’m not smacking”.
I translated the Hebrew word “marbitz” as hitting before. Smacking is a better translation.
