Jerusalem affairs minister Zeev Elkin wrote on Facebook Monday that a “distortion” cannot “change reality.”

The Prince is to visit Israel and the Palestinian territories next week, the first official visit by a British royal.

His schedule lists Jerusalem as part of the “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 war from Jordan and annexed it in a move not internationally recognized.

Israel views the territory, home to key holy sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims, as an inseparable part of its capital.

Palestinians claim it as the capital of a future state.

The city’s fate is an emotional issue at the heart of the conflict.

Well, if Prince William is going only to the East-Jerusalem then Mr. Elkin can’t criticise the Royal Itinerary for calling ‘occupies palestinian territories’, because according to international law, which the U.S. supports even under the current Trump Administration, that’s exactly what it is. And even, let’s say, should he be visiting the Parliment or the PM’s residence, he is still not visiting Jerusalem in its own merit, only ‘cuz it’s the seat of the Government.

The timing is purposeful: a member of the British royal family (none of whom have ever visited Israel since its inception in 1948) has initiated a trip to Jerusalem and refers to it as being in Occupied Territory right after the USA and other countries declared it to be Israel’s capital. Such an obvious slap in the face to both Israel her real allies but knowing GB’s history, should come as no surprise.

To #5 — Your statement is in error; in fact, several members of the Royal family, including Prince Philip and Prince Charles have visited Israel. However, they were not official state visits.
