(AP Photo/Olivier Fitoussi)Brussels – The European Union on Thursday said it was concerned about a new Israeli law which declares that only Jews have the right of self determination, and said it would complicate a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Israel passed the “nation-state” law earlier on Thursday after months of political argument. It was sharply criticized by the country’s Arab minority, who called it racist and verging on apartheid.

“We are concerned, we have expressed this concern and we will continue to engage with Israeli authorities in this context,” a spokeswoman for EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini told a news briefing.

“We’ve been very clear when it comes to the two-state solution, we believe it is the only way forward and any step that would further complicate or prevent this solution of becoming a reality should be avoided,” she said.

The law stipulates that “Israel is the historic homeland of the Jewish people and they have an exclusive right to national self-determination in it”.

It also strips Arabic of its designation as an official language alongside Hebrew, downgrading it to a “special status” that enables its continued use within Israeli institutions.

Israel’s Arabs number some 1.8 million, about 20 percent of the 9 million population.

The two-state solution envisaged under an international peace framework, in which Palestinians living in Gaza and the occupied West Bank would gain their own state, is already looking like a dim prospect.

Peace talks have been stalemated for several years and Israeli settlements in the occupied lands have expanded, despite condemnation from the EU and other bodies.

The anti semitism the Israelis r creating is an unfortunate art. They themselves hate Jews and all about zjudaism but the bigger picture is; the world thinks they’re talking in the name of Klal Yisroel.
Klal Yisroel, Judaism,Torah, mitzvahs, religion have NO affiliation with the modern State of Israel today. They defy Hashem aand everything related to holiness. We shld just distance ourselves from the Israeli Anti Semites that r bringing a terrible chilul Hashem in the name of ALL jews. Its SELECTIVE ZIONISTIC views and nothing related to authentic Judaism. Let the world know!!

If the blatantly anti-semitic, Jewish hating EU is concerned over the proposed law, for sure it should be passed in the Knesset !Hopefully the leftist, socialist, liberal Democratic Jews of America will take of their blinders & rose colored glasses and realize that Jew hating is alive & prospering in the world. And-just to reinforce the facts, why are so many countries in the EU more concerned about “animal welfare” to ban shichita over the religious rights of their Jewish population.Fracturing the skull of an animal is more humane? Give me a break! Wake up Yidden!

    AWWW……..
Does the UN have any problem with the Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Libya Egypt, Indonesia and a host of others being officially Muslim??
Or that non Muslims are barred from enetring Mecca?, (not that I can fathom why anybody would want to),
It’s painful to watch my hard earned tax dollars being earmarked to support the human slime that inhabits that vipers nest.
