Bridgewater, NJ – Former CIA Director John Brennan says he is considering taking legal action to try to prevent President Donald Trump from stripping other current and former officials’ security clearances.

Brennan said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he’s been contacted by a number of lawyers about the basis of a potential complaint.
Last week, Trump revoked Brennan’s security clearance and threatened a long list of others, including critics and those connected to the Russia investigation.
Brennan says he’ll do whatever he can “to try to prevent these abuses in the future.” He says, “If it means going to court, I will do that.”
More than 75 former intelligence officials have denounced Trump’s decision to yank Brennan’s clearance, saying they have a right to express their views without fear of punishment.

Strange, I always thought that security clearance is a privilege, not a “right”. This is in contrast to such things as tax exempt status (when qualified), and which the Obama administration actually denied to qualified organizations without justification.

So much fun to read the lunacy and contortions emanating from the anti-Trump crowd. For example, lawfareblog (dated 27 July 2018) is accusing Trump of wanting to stifle the free speech of such people as the mid-40’s FBI agent investigator (and that would allegedly be a violation of free speech rights). If the latter opens his mouth in public he fears could lose his clearance (and hence his job). Amazing how such otherwise educated source so completely ignores what even a layperson like myself understands (even if only from TV) – that these guys (and even low level police) are forbidden to reveal anything to the public even in an ordinary “ongoing” investigation. And if they do such “leaks” they should lose their jobs. And this investigation is more than “ordinary” and certainly risks revealing classified information, so shouldn’t those who “leak” lose their job? And has already been shown, expressing certain sentiments clearly betrays bias investigation.
Brennan is a person who has taken an apparently paying job to professionally blab everything he can, which is dangerously close to blabbing what he knows. How cold such a person in such a job ever be given any security clearance?

2. Mr. Brennan is a private citizen. According to the US Constitution (maybe you heard of it?) any citizen has the right to bring a suit against another party.
3. Although the Orange Rasha has the power to take away a security clearance, there are literally tens of thousands who have this. For him to take it away from his perceived ‘critics’ or ‘political opponents’ is an administrative abuse that may not stand up in Court. Federal Courts have ruled against Trumpfnik administration diktats 53 out of 74 rulings since he took power.

This LOSER, runs around blabbering to any tv station that invites him about classified and privileged information that he receives with his security clearance, as a courtesy for being an ex-CIA Director.

I hope Trump calls his bluff then this clown will have to testify under oath. A lot more people associated with the Clintons and the Obamas will be guilty of perjury and end up behind bars.
