Sullivan County, NY – Exactly six years to the day after being sentenced to a lengthy prison term for the brutal murder of an eight year old Borough Park boy, Levi Aron is facing disciplinary action and possible criminal charges after an attack on a prison guard in an upstate maximum security facility this past weekend.

As previously reported on VIN News, Aron was sentenced to forty years to life for the horrific kidnap, murder and dismemberment of Leiby Kletzky in July 2011. Aron was due to be eligible for parole in 2052.
According to The Daily Freeman, Aron grabbed a female officer who was making the rounds at the Sullivan County Correctional Facility in Fallsburg by the arm and attempted to drag her into his cell on Saturday morning. The officer managed to free herself from Aron’s grasp and push him away, but Aron attempted to grab her again.
A spokesperson for the correction officers’ union said that the officer’s initial efforts to subdue Aaron with pepper spray were unsuccessful, with a second officer stepping in to help place Aron in restraints.
The officer who was attacked by Aron was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown where she was treated for injuries that included swelling and abrasions above her left eye and to both knees as well as bruises to her forearm.
Patrick Bailey, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, said that Aron was removed from the general prison population after the incident to be punished for the attack. The New York State Police is investigating the incident to determine what, if any, charges will be filed against Aron.
New York State Corrections Officers and Police Benevolent Association president Michael Mazzella said that assaults on prison guards, particularly those that involved male inmates and female guards have been on the rise, with prisoners typically facing minimal consequences for those attacks. Mazzella called on local officials to prosecute inmates in order to deter future attacks.

Why is this news?
I’m shocked to see no reference to the ACLU coming to defend this rabid animal. This movement of liberalism gives more rights to criminals than the public, to illegal immigrants than citizens, etc. May this entire movement be stricken from the world and given a most severe mishpot on the coming Rosh Hashanah.
Heinous crimes. Yet, we neglect that the clear mental illness present here. Perhaps the world would be better served if he was in a mental health facility. Perhaps we would be even better off if we had more prevention and treatment so that Leiby would still be alive.

At the risk of sounding sexist, a female CO has no business working in a male jail, you have prisoners who are twice the size of Aron and pump iron all day, there have been like 2 female CO killing on the job this whole thing was avoidable

It is stupid and illogical to have female guards in a men’s prison, as that is a ticking time bomb. Also, it is ridiculous to have male guards in a women’s prison. What is wrong with these incompetent prison administrators?
Mentally disabled. Fortunately he was found fit to stand trial or hed be roaming the streets already. So sad! Sounds like this gruesome murdur happnd yesterday.
