Police said that 27 year old Anthony Mineo was arrested today and charged with burglary, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, and petit larceny.

As previously reported on VIN News, (http://bit.ly/2wJvd0M) home surveillance footage showed Mineo entering the E 35th Street home twice on the morning of August 30th, making off with credit cards, a laptop and several other items.

A source who spoke to VIN News on condition of anonymity said that after viewing the surveillance video, Mineo’s father went to police to identify his son as the suspect in the video to prevent him from possible harm.

Mineo was arrested today at his 2100 Ocean Avenue home and is expected to be questioned by detectives from multiple precincts regarding several unsolved burglaries.

He was previously arrested in 2013 for burglary in the third degree and was released on bail at the end of May.

Baruch Moskowitz of Flatbush Shomrim said that he has been out with approximately a dozen volunteers every night this week between the hours of 3 and 6 AM hoping to track down a burglar who was known to travel through backyards in the area in connection with multiple incidents.

Moskowitz noted that it was the combined efforts of community members and the NYPD that led to Mineo’s arrest.

“This arrest came to fruition because of the pictures and videos that were circulating,” Moskowitz told VIN News. “It not for that, who knows how much longer this would have gone on.”

Lesson learned. Lock your doors and windows, put batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors too. In Brooklyn, look both ways before crossing a one-way street, will be coming to the rest of the city after the elections.
In all seriousness, take seriously your safety. The time between Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur is a time of din and rachamim. Both require your effort.
