The 37-year old officer was traveling home on his motorcycle when, at around 9:30 pm local time, a silver Volkswagen hit him. The accident, which took place in western London, was witnessed by several bystanders.

The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving two female passengers behind. They were interrogated by police and subsequently arrested for interfering with the investigation. The two were later released on bail.

Police then detained three suspects in connection with the case. The suspects were residing at an address in the north of the British capital. They are currently being held at the nearby precinct.

Police officials have asked eyewitnesses to come forth with any information that may assist in the apprehension of the culprit, and an autopsy is scheduled to take place on the officer’s corpse.

It’s good they’re doing an autopsy. Maybe they’ll find out he really died 30 seconds before the accident. What’s the point?

if it was truly an accident, not much would have happened if he was responsible and stayed at the scene and tried to help by calling for an ambulance etc.

All that would have happened was his insurance company would have been sued (assuming he had insurance)

by running away it opens the door for criminal charges.

Comment number 4 is spot on. Yes it was an accident, he was not speeding and he drove in the wrong lane. He simply panicked and fled the scene leaving the 2 girls. Now he has to face the consequences. It also was an off duty police officer on a civilian bike on his way home.

Liron Shnaider was on the wrong side of the road and killed a father, husband and friend, who was travelling home from work. As a traffic officer he spent every day trying to protect innocent members of the public from people like this.

Firstly, my deep thoughts are with the PC Chris Dent family. I hope God give some peace for you guys! Regarding those who comment on this case, before you say anything, just remember… nobody should refuse to help an injured person… in this case, it is horrifying to think that someone would leave a scene when a biker is fighting for his life. That is just wrong!!! And maybe it is a time for law makers to think about foreigners driving at the wrong side of the road. Too man lives lost already.

Our deepest sympathy to the Dent family. Hopefully, there are still many decent people, like Chris, who posses a ‘gut feeling’ of knowing wrong from right .I am sure his children do. It is a civilized human behavioral instinct. Even in a situation that could cause some to panic, how can you leave such a scene and not return within a short lapse of time., but…. I am no psychologist. However, according to the reports, it seems that Liron Schneider’s friend’s morals were also lacking in what seems to be appropriate -let alone legal! I do hope that these types of people are a minority and good people like Chris a majority. They have a lot to learn.
