A spokesman for Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino announced the resignation Friday along with the resignations of four undersheriffs.

Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and others had called for Saudino to step down Thursday when the recording was published by WNYC.

On Friday, activists said they would hold a rally and march at the county courthouse and jail to demand that Saudino step down.

The comments were recorded in January after Murphy’s inauguration.

Saudino apologized for the comments Thursday evening but at the time didn’t say he would resign.

Wnyc Matt Katz on a whitchhunt performing trump profiling via going after anyone who supports his policy . The sherif ran a tight security prison system for ICE and illegals in the NYC region . Matt was furious that he wasn’t backing down like Hudson valley did . So he dug and dug and dug . Another sad victim from this whitchhunt .

Archy, when you call this a “witchhunt”, are you claiming that Katz created a fake tape of Saudino using racial slurs in order to destroy Saudino’s reputation? Or are you saying that the tape was real, and that it was wrong for Katz to release the tape and that it’s “sad” that someone who uses racial slurs should be forced to resign from his job?

I’m not sure why Saudino blames Murphy for appointing Grewal anyhow. Grewal was acting Attorney General under Christie for almost 2 years. Personally I was very pleased with Grewal’s work in Mahwah.

It’s concerning that you seem to think that everyone who disagrees with you is Yoni. I’m not. I don’t think I’ve even responded to one of your posts before.

I’m also not from Mahwah. I just care about how other Jews in NJ are treated, and am proud of Grewal for standing up for their rights. One reason I voted for Murphy is because he wrote an editorial defending the eruv group, even though he knew he’d lose votes for it.

I agree that Christie shouldn’t have let Bridget Ann Kelly take the fall for him. Too bad for her that she couldn’t access expensive attorneys on taxpayer dollars like her boss did.

As for your comparison between racial profiling of minorities and investigative reporting of politicians, I just can’t even.
