On its facebook page police said there were called early this morning at the synagogue, located at 3900 Michelson Dr., on Wednesday morning at around 9 a.m.
According to photos posted online, the graffiti spray painted on the temple’s outside walls, were the words “(Expletive) Jews”.
The Irvine police continue to seek suspects in the crime, and asked the public for tips and information. Beth Jacob Congregation is an Orthodox Synagogue.
The incident falls during a week of heightened tensions for the Jewish community nationwide after a mass shooting on Saturday, Oct. 27, in which 11 were killed when a gunman attacked a synagogue in Pittsburgh. It was the deadliest attack to target the Jewish community in United States history.
Let the police do their job before any other poster starts blaming anyone in particular for this terrible incident.
Not that it matters but everyone should know that this an Orthodox shul. I was stuck in nearby Newport Beach during Aseres Y’Mei Tshuva last year and I was B”H able to daven with a minyan 3 times a day. We should all go to the Shul’s website, https://www.bethjacobirvine.org/ and send a note to Rabbi Ciner and the Kehilla.
