Israeli media reported Thursday that an 18-month-old baby died of complications of the disease at a Jerusalem hospital, the country’s first death from measles since 2003. The child was not vaccinated.

The outbreak comes as the World Health Organization has reported tens of thousands of measles cases across Europe.

Measles is a highly contagious disease and one of the leading causes of death worldwide in young children, according to the World Health Organization. It is easily prevented with a vaccine.

In Israel, several ultra-Orthodox Jewish sects oppose vaccination, and the Health Ministry has stepped up a campaign to increase vaccination rates in unprotected communities in recent months.

A senseless and totally preventable childhood death .

What a senseless, cruel & needless death. Parents refusing to vaccinate a child against a preventable disease. one which should have been eradicated long ago if not for the selfish, ignorant anti vexers.

“several ultra-Orthodox Jewish sects oppose vaccination” – these people are all rodof – responsible for killing and injuring many because of their narrowness. Even if there might be something not quite kosher in the medicine, it is a matter of pekuach nefesh for the children and those they infect.

The hysterical anti-vaccine nuts have blood on their hands.

These parents will have to live with the results of their stupid decision for the rest of their lives. I doubt the good Rebbetzin and Rosh Yeshiva of Philadelphia will lose a minute of sleep over the death they have caused. I’m sure the anti vaxers will also sleep soundly tonight as self righteous people never take responsobility for their words or actions. If the death of an innocent child were not involved it would have been amusing to read the antivaxer rationalizations that will follow.

Has anybody ascertained all the facts yet?
The typical time in the USA for the first MMR is up to 15 months. maybe Israel follows a different schedule, maybe there was a concern that caused a slight delay.
All th eknow it alls seem to ignore that there are risks to anything you do or don’t do. I would like to assume there was a valid reason for the slight delay, if indeed this is later than usual in Israel. I am not a physician but maybe the child was sick and they thought a vaccine would not be a gtreat idea.

Enough of this fear mongering one sided coverage. There is tons of scientific data, as well as personal evidence that vaccines cause lifelong problems. The occurrences of such incidents are much more frequent then government and media lead people to believe. Even if the diseases or is disastrous has the hype, decision to vaccinate must be made on a balance. Vosizneias is part of the media that is to blame for this. How about covering the scientists and doctors speaking out about vaccine dangers and let the public decide?

All the conspiracy nutsos are also anti-vexers for the same reason. Those pathetic fools feel that they’re “in the know” about who REALLY blew up the WTC, or who REALLY controls the media; etc.

To Number 8 Shimon11210. There is nothing I have said or could say that would bring more shame on the ‘Gadol Hador’, than that that he has brought upon himself by publicly repeating his wife’s ignorance regarding the efficacy of vaccines in preventing deaths. Thank you for your concern regarding my Yom Hadin. It would be better for you and the ‘Gadol Hador’ to contemplate your own Din Vecheshbon. I do worry about my Yom Hadin, but at leas I am honest in my financial dealings, and my public and private words have not caused anyones death.

The Autism diagnosis was clarified with specific details about 20 years ago. You can first notice the symptoms at about the same age as the recommended vaccinations. The scare was retracted by the original British doctor who claimed that the vaccinations CAUSED the problem. Just because two things come at the same time does not mean that one caused the other. e.g. you are wearing a red sweater and your boss gives you a raise. The sweater did not cause the raise.

Having said that, all medications have side effects. Even Advil, etc…. Overall the entire health community believes that taking the vaccinations are far safer than not taking them. Refuah Shlayma to all.

Seems this story has not been updated recently. An other site states that neither parent was vaccinated AND they both had measles AND that the baby had never seen a doctor even for a check-up. The baby was brought to the hospital without a pulse.

So actually I did some research and found that this baby had down syndrome which would mean that she had a compromised immune system to begin with and was a lot more susceptible to the disease to begin with. Number two, it is reported that the baby came the the hospital dead, that means that only after the child lost consciousness did they seek help, that would seem like neglect, because I’m sure there was reason to seek help before that point and had they sought help before she deteriorated this would have probably turned out different. Measles is not a dangerous disease under normal circumstances. This tragedy is being used as a blood libel for well informed people who believe that vaccines cause more harm than good. I know from a friend that 5 babies died of SIDS in Westgate lately, nobody is reporting on that! Or the fact that it was likely caused by vaccines. ‘Cause there’s no witch to hunt, so it ain’t interesting. But the righteous indignation of stomping all over those antivaxer childkillers makes people feel like they’re actually fighting for a good cause, while in reality they are just uneducated people serving as a mouthpiece for for big pharma and big brother. Actually vaccines kill more babies than they presumably save. FOR THOSE WHO DARE TO THINK
