Smoke billowed from the bus and Israeli interceptor missiles streaked through the sky as sirens sounded in Israeli communities near the Gaza border.

Israel’s military said more than 80 rockets were launched in less than 40 minutes. Some were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, while several others struck homes and buildings in Israeli communities near the Gaza border, causing injuries and damage.

A home in the southern town of Sderot was hit by rocket fire lightly injuring three people.

According to medics, the three appear to have been hit by pieces of glass when the projectile exploded near them.

The victims, all in their 30s, are taken to Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital for treatment, the Magen David Adom ambulance service says.

The frontier had been quiet earlier in the day after a botched Israeli undercover operation in the Gaza Strip led to fighting that killed a Hamas commander, six other Palestinian militants and an Israeli colonel.

“In response to yesterday’s crime, the joint command of Palestinian factions announce the beginning of bombardment of the enemy’s settlements with scores of rockets,” Hamas’s armed wing said in a statement after funerals were held for the militants.

The Israeli military says it has dispatched fighter jets to strike “terror targets” throughout Gaza following a barrage of mortar and rocket fire that wounded six people.

How many times do these exchanges have to happen before Israel declares enough is enough?

“”a day after an Israeli incursion prompted deadly fighting in the enclave”””. Sounds like blaming Israel
