A pattern of deception by advisers to President Donald Trump, aimed at covering up Russia-related contacts during the 2016 campaign and transition, has unspooled bit by bit in criminal cases from special counsel Robert Mueller. (AP Photo/Julie Jacobson)Washington – President Donald Trump is calling for a “full and complete” sentence for his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump tweets Monday: “You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term?” Trump added that Cohen “makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself.”

Cohen had pleaded guilty in August to eight criminal counts, including campaign-finance violation and other charges and implicated the president in open court. Last week, he also pleaded guilty to lying to Congress. His attorneys have argued that he should be spared prison for crimes he committed in an abundance of enthusiasm for his ex-boss.

His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 12.

Yes Mr. President. That’s how it works with informers. Cohen is a crook and he is offering information on the Trump Organization which he claims is a bigger crook. (So far, have not heard Cohen implicate Trump personally in anything).

Your buddy Rudy did this all the time when he was a prosecutor.

This is another really stupefying example of the President inserting himself into a prosecutorial matter.

How I see it. Trump laundered money and committed tax fraud before the election which is not impeachable. His underlings committed election fraud and national security violations for which some will go to jail. Trump committed election fraud with the Stormy Daniels thing and no one really cares. Trump committed obstruction when he rewrote the talking points about Trump Tower but no prosecutor is going to follow that up.

Result: A bunch of people are going to jail (Flynn, Manafort, Cohen, Papadopulous, etc.). Trump not getting impeached or prosecuted. Trump Jr. pleads guilty to misdemeanor false statement to federal agents and pays a fine. Roger Stone probably wiggles out.

Cohen must go to jail; Trump can’t be touched while he is in office. If a Republican is elected after Trump, he can always be pardoned, in the same manner that Ford pardoned Nixon.

The President’s many comments are simply obstructions to justice.
