Brooklyn, NY – Music Star Offers Free Performances to Charities and Nonprofit Organizations: “I Want to Give Back to Those Who Give to Many.”

    24

Shea RubensteinBrooklyn, NY – Recording artist Shea Rubenstein has announced his offer to perform free of charge at events held by charities and other nonprofit organizations for the duration of 2009. “Charities face so many obstacles in the current economic turndown, with more people in need, and fewer donations pouring in,” Shea explains. “I want to give back to those who give to many.” His magnanimous offer extends to all charities and nonprofit organizations who seek to enhance their events with professional vocal entertainment. Instead of having to set aside a large part of their budget to obtain a musical artist, Rubenstein will now provide that for them, gratis.

Shea Rubenstein released his debut album, entitled, “Ohavti,” in December. His music video, “Window in Heaven,” is the most downloaded English Jewish music video on the Internet, and has garnered a huge following. Shea has performed throughout the United States, Israel and Europe. His audiences have included various elected officials and religious leaders, including, most recently, Governor David Patterson. Shea performs Carlebach-style Shabbosim and Kumzites on a regular basis. He is sought after at weddings, Sheva Brachos and other Simchas throughout the country.

Organizations seeking to accept his generous offer should contact Shea Rubenstein by visiting his website, www.shearubenstein.com. Shea’s gracious offer is emblematic of the initiative needed to quell the effects of the recession on our community at large. It is his hope that others will follow his example.

Great advertising for him. Bottom line. All major singers performed for free one time or another. That’s how you make it and that’s how Shea is trying. Advertising with a nice twist

Wow shia you outdid yourself again, your album was an absolute hit, and now you give away yourself to orgnizations for free, you are indeed a very special person, I had the honor of watching you perform live it was amazing, when you sang slow songs my heart was singing along, and when you sang more lebedig songs all the people attending were singing along with you, may you have the zechia to perform many more years, and too all you people out there that didn’t buy his CD out there go get it you will love it.

Not a bad way to promote oneself. A new singer virtually unknown offers his services free of charge to charities for a couple of months, where lots of people will hear him, hopefully like what they hear and hire him for their simchas. I hope it works for you Shea. I have a better idea though, why don’t you offer your services free of charge for the duration of 2009 to everybody, even regular baalei simcha (in these times everyone could use the break) and get your publicity, and beginning 2010 your stock goes up hopefully and you start making the big bucks. B’Hatzlacha!!!

From time to time I lookback and quietly thank Shia. I don’t know if Shia would remember because he helped many. Shia is a Selfless person that’s all that counts today. How fascinating.
When I read this article, I was looking forward to seeing the comments that would be written about Mr. Rubenstein’s beautiful gesture. I was hoping that everyone would react positively to the fact that once again one of our brothers was going to do a tremendous chesed for klal yisroel. I don’t know Mr. Rubenstein very well at all, but I know that he has a wife and a few children BH.
To all the people who commented positively, you have beautiful hearts. I know that if my career entailed would have a voluntary component to it, I would not have the time nor strength to do it. So you understand that this is a sacrifice on the part of Mr. Rubenstein who could be earning money or being at home with his family and chooses to help mosdos instead.
To the negative commenters i.e. #4 “he probably has zero expenses” you need to stop jumping to conclusions. Why would you make a completely unsubstantiated comment like that? What is your point? You never met the man, obviously as you had no idea he was married and had children. You need to look inside yourself, all of you who chose to denigrade Mr. Rubenstein, and ask yourself why you go through this beautiful life Hashem gave us by looking on the negative side of a person’s actions.
For instance, #3 “Great advertising for him. Bottom line. All major singers performed for free one time or another. That’s how you make it and that’s how Shea is trying. Advertising with a nice twist” ask yourself “why am I not more like #2 ″ who commented”What a wonderful kiddush hashem.”
We must all look into our actions to try and determine what motivates us to say the things we say and try to uplift ourselves in this world

#13 , you know what’s so incredible? The way that Hashem set things up in this world. A person who is always looking out to find the bad in others ends up living in his own angry, depressed world. He might think he “got one over” on someone else, but the only one he is punishing is himself. While a “farginner” will end up living a life of joy and happiness, the “farbissener” spends his life in a morass of depression and bad thoughts. It is so amazing to me that the way a person looks at life, that is the life he ends up being zoche to live.
I hope we always have the koach to look at all yidden with kindness, compassion and most of all, no kinah. For that will be our own personally created reward in this world.

Why Should others follow in his footsteps?

If he wants to perform for free – then let him, but don’t tell people in the music business where to give their Tzedaka to.
Maybe the Hall, Caterer, Photographer, Printer, and all the other vendors should be donating their ENTIRE services as well?
Many singers rely on these events to support their families. I’m not against giving a good deal, but to donate all your services and hope that everyone else will do that is crazy.

I personally believe that this is just a well disguised ploy to get publicity. If it is, congratulations – you got a gig, Shea!

Great job Shia a.k.a “The Josh” keep up the good work and don’t let anyone discourage you.

To all those who don’t know shia, he is a successful business person who takes out allot of his personal time to help klal yisroel in many ways i.e. project mazoune which is great program to help needy families (like the ones you know who live on your block and cant make ends meat) among other tzedakos and chasodim that he is involved in

May you be successful in all your endeavors and don’t mind the cynics who cant fathom that people like you exist

Shea is truly a mentsch who is really doing his utmost to help our brethren in this economic crisis. Anyone who doubts that and call his actions into questions needs to take a good hard look at how they are conducting themselves. There is a place and time for cynicism and sarcasm, but Shea shouldn’t be the recipient of it. I hope that his thoughtful actions spur other people and professionals to do the same thing.
