Trump said during the open-press session Tuesday that, “If we don’t have border security, we’ll shut down the government.” He says his long-promised wall will be built one way or another.

Government funding for some agencies is set to expire on Dec. 21, threatening a partial shutdown.

Schumer and Pelosi are urging the president to find another solution, with Schumer saying “we shouldn’t shut down the government over a dispute.”

Trump is responding by saying he’s “proud to shut down the government” and says he will “take the mantle.”

Pelosi is also commenting on the meeting’s acrimony, noting “this has spiraled downwards.”

Trump’s not winning this round. He’s not in a strong position from a public relations standpoint. Shutting down the government will hurt his popularity more than it will the Dems who are going to come off as wanting to work it out.

    How about an infrastructure bill?

Regarding the building of the wall between the United States and Mexico, it seems to me, to be a big mistake.
    Why?
If America Is a Real Country, They’ll Exercise Strict Law and Order.
First of all America already has 15,000 border guards.
They certainly have very good equipment: Jeeps, guns, night vision eqipment, loudspeakers, helicopter use ( I imagine), etc.
So it’s hard to imagine a 15,000 border guards, exercising strict laws, cannot be very effective.
The wall cost a lot of money, and often there’s cost overruns, stealing, etc.
What if the crime situation improves in Mexico in the next few years? Then the wall will be useless.
Why pressure Mexico? Isn’t it better to make friends than enemies?
Isn’t it better for a president, who cares about his country, to allow the Border guards to exercise severe laws and build America!
    Thanks,
    Boruch, Jerusalem

Another public tantrum by 3 year old Deranged Donald. As the legal noose tightens he’ll keep flipping out more. No wonder Sick Nick Ayers dumped the Chief of Staff job. Maybe Sloppy Steve can come back from the alt-nazi conference he’s at in Europe and take the job. FEH

Shut down the government who cares.
When Obama shut down the government towards the end of his administration the American public didn’t feel the difference.

If Mexico is paying for the wall why does Trump want an appropriation from Congress when he doesn’t even have enough votes in the House. He should simply have the Trump Organization run by Eric and Don Jr. build the wall and bill Mexico, leaving our government out of it altogether.

Quite an embarrassing video for Trump who acted like a spoiled 3 year old. Not what one expects from the world’s greatest deal maker.

What experience does Polosi or Shumer have in border security?
At least the president can say he built many safe tall and strong buildings all over the place.
    This is so pathetic
