Clarity Media Group said the closure was a result of a roiling media market and rejected claims that the fact that the Standard is a leading conservative outlet criticizing President Donald Trump was a factor.

Clarity rejected efforts by the weekly’s editorial staff to find another buyer. Clarity owns another publication, the Washington Examiner, which has not been as robust as the Standard in its criticism of Trump.

The Standard was founded in 1995 by Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes, and John Podhoretz. Kristol and Podhoretz, who are Jewish, are scions of the neoconservative movement.

President Trump, On Saturday praised the shuttering of The Magazine.

“The pathetic and dishonest Weekly Standard, run by failed prognosticator Bill Kristol (who, like many others, never had a clue), is flat broke and out of business. Too bad,” Trump tweeted. “May it rest in peace!”

What an irresponsible headline. Makes it sound like Trump is happy about the demise of the STANDARD because it supported Israel. The outlet went down because it was headed by a guy whose venom toward the president took precedence over policy…and very few wanted to sustain support.

    To Numbers 1 and 3.

I am a conservative and I believe in free trade, balancing the budget and multinational defense tradies.

Just 30 months ago, a politician called for tariffs, increasing the deficits and debt and abandoning our allies and forfeiting the mantle “leader of the world” would be called a liberal (or worse!).
