The four-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA champion posted a selfie enjoying some new tunes by 21 Savage. The athlete filmed himself jamming to “asmr” in a whip and uploaded his clip to social media. His post, which seemed to have been captured while James was in a good mood, was received with criticism.
His mistake was the inclusion of the part of 21 Savage’s song in which “Jewish money” is referenced:
“We been gettin’ that Jewish money, everything is Kosher (On God) Bought myself a ‘Ventador and bought my bitch a Roadster (Straight up) Drive my Lambo to the store, I’ma wave with my doors.”
Darren Rovell, sports business reporter for ActionNetworkHQ tweeted to his followers after posting a screenshot of James’s post, “go find a Jew and read this to them. Any one — Adam Silver, Dan Gilbert, David Stern — then tell me how they reacted and come back to me.”
Surprised LeBron, who makes very few mistakes, put this out. Does quoting lyrics from a song absolve the person quoting from the responsibility behind the words? I’d argue no, especially with a following of 45 million.
Doug Ellin, along with conservative allies, were quick to point out how these lyrics perpetuate a stereotype that has caused much pain and suffering to the Jewish community. The Entourage creator posted his critique to Instagram with a screenshot of James’ clip over which he types out the offending lyrics.
“This is an anti Semitic stereotype used for centuries to foster hatred against Jews. @kingjames the nazis spread this nonsense everywhere #wordshavemeaning posting words to 44 million people has a ton of meaning.”
Ellin also tagged two organizations in his post: Humans of Judaism and the ADL, whose mission is to ” stop the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all…”
James has since then removed the post from his social media account.
Seemed like a good guy. Guess not so much
I have just one question to ask those claiming he is only singing someone elses lyrics.
What would happen if a Jew was singing lyrics derogatory to African Americans?
no wonder he did not like his jewish coach and the jewish owner of his team
Disgusting. Typical Trump hater.
I hope this menuvel gets suspended. Jewish lives matter.
This black lives matter clown is a fraud and a phony. Imagine a white person said this about a black person. Just goes to show that Jewish blood is cheap and no one cares about the Jews.
Is CNN and the rest of the fake news outlets reporting on this story?
Typical evil obumer dem-o-rat.
i always knew he wasn’t the goat.
I’m happy to say I will never wear my LeBron jersey ever again. In this PC Me Too movement this is unacceptable.
what can you expect from a schvarze ball player? to expect brains is non-realistic, to expect him to read and understand what he reads is also non-realistic.
there is no amount of lipstick that will make this pig look good. Shame on him. He is probably too stupid to understand what he has said, so lets make him understand, white peoples money should not support him, jewish money should not support him.
