Family Court Deputy Chief Justice John Faulks ruled that the German-born mother, known only as Mrs. Hoover, and her estranged Australian partner, known only as Mr. Hoover, are also forbidden from inciting racial hatred when in the presence of their 6-year-old son.

Australian newspapers reported this week that the judgment, delivered in Canberra on April 9, also banned Mrs. Hoover, a former skinhead, from viewing Web sites “promoting Nazism, neo-fascism or Web sites that advocate racial vilification” while the child is in her care.

What a disgusting ruling. While I find these people repulsive, who the heck is the government to tell them what they can and cannot say in their own homes or teach their children?

This is the worst kind of violation of rights! This is instituionalizing the “thought police”!

Will they start monitoring what Yidden teach their children and sensor what does not fit into their ideas? It is one thing to have a system of laws that govern people’s actions in society. It is quite another to tell people what opinions they can and cannot express in their own home. This is the kind of thing they do in China and Cuba!

That being said, I hope these people become the targets of public ridicule and are shamed into silence.

    #2 well said.

These people are disgusting animals and to shiver at the image of them indoctrinationg their son with their hate.

Nontheless, violating a parents most basic right to teach their children is simply too high a price to pay. I prefer the the status-quo.

Before anyone here jumps on this position, consider that thousands of Russian jews, including grandparents, grew up without torah because the communists considered inappropriate and conisidered it cruel to subject innocent children to such backwards’ views.

If we allow the government to impose their moral sympathies on childrearing, only God knows where it will stop. We must be ever-viligant to nip it at the bud, nomatter how offended we are by the parents.

That’s what happens when you don’t have constitutionally protected rights.
