The partial government shutdown over Trump’s demand for money to build a border wall with Mexico is in its 14th day.

Schumer said the Democratic leaders “told the president we needed the government open. He resisted.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called it a “lengthy and sometimes contentious” meeting. She said, “We cannot resolve this until we open up government.”

Trump convened the Democratic and Republican leaders for the second negotiation this week. The president is insisting on $5 billion for the border wall, but legislation for that does not have support from Congress.

C’mon Schumer. Make an offer. $5 bullion for citizenship for any DACA people who dont have criminal records. Teunp builds part of a wall and you claim you got something in return

Regarding the building of the wall between the United States and Mexico, it seems to me, to be a big mistake.
    Why?
If America Is a Real Country, They’ll Exercise Strict Law and Order.
First of all America already has 15,000 border guards.
They certainly have very good equipment: Jeeps, guns, night vision eqipment, loudspeakers, helicopter use ( I imagine), etc.
So it’s hard to imagine a 15,000 border guards, exercising strict laws, cannot be very effective.
The wall cost a lot of money, and often there’s cost overruns, stealing, etc.
What if the crime situation improves in Mexico in the next few years? Then the wall will be useless.
Why pressure Mexico? Isn’t it better to make friends than enemies?
Isn’t it better for a president, who cares about his country, to allow the Border guards to exercise severe laws and build America!
    Thanks,
    Boruch, Jerusalem

How much money can we save by keeping the government shut down? Of course, as long as they keep collecting out taxes, it’s not really shut down.

Tiny Trump is trying to get the taxpayers to pay for the same wall that Mexico is paying for. How can people fail to understand that you don’t pay for the same construction project twice unless you’re an absolute idiot.
Many of the illegals that I’ve met have flown into the US as students or tourists and over stayed their visas. I believe Tiny Trump’s current wife is an example of someone who overstayed after coming in as a working “model”.

I’m scratching my head trying to understand what the Democrats are claiming for their refusal to fund the Wall. Are they saying its unnecessary? That it wont work? Too expensive? We can’t afford it? All BS. Democrats want open borders and more liberal voters.

Shumer is a news hound; every Sunday evening, when no one else is around, Shumer holds a news conference in the hope that it will be noted Mon morning in the press and on TV. That just highlights his being a fool of little substance. He does have, however, a solid record of NEVER helping a Jew or Israel in his too long career. Why would NY Jews vote for him?

Trump lost the fight before it even started. Pretty soon his uneducated and poor supporters will be waiting for their government welfare checks (SNAP, Earned Income Tax Credits, etc) and they won’t be getting them… They may then rail at the Dems, but the Dems are a whole lot of people to get to change their minds about this, whereas Trump, one person, can simply sign legislation that was passed by the Republican controlled House and Senate originally. Trump refused to sign legislation his own party passed to open the government and his own party waited till the Dems were in control to whine that this is between the Dems and Trump… Face it, it is all Trump. When people are losing their benefits, Trump will have to face the music. End of the day, President’s don’t get impeached for being corrupt, rather they get impeached when the folks in the President’s party get concerned that he will cost them votes.
