Kevin Parker last night walks toward Post photographer William Lopez who says Parker attacked him and damaged his car. photo credit: NY PostBrooklyn, NY – Less than a day after his going ballistic and arrest over a confrontation with a newspaper photographer, Short-fused State Senator Majority Whip Kevin S. Parker of Brooklyn was stripped of his leadership and chairmanship positions on Saturday, said a spokesman for the Senate majority leader, Malcolm A, Smith.

The battling Brooklyn Democrat allegedly roughed up a New York Post photographer and smashed his camera in front of Parker’s home at Avenue H and 37th St. in Flatbush.

Parker was taken to the 67th Precinct and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony.

Photographer William Lopez, who was working on a story about foreclosure proceedings against Parker’s $610,000 Flatbush home, said that the anger-challenged Parker lost it yet again when the senator spotted him clicking away outside Parker’s house around 7:30 p.m.

Parker — a vocal supporter of foreclosure relief for troubled homeowners — has good reason to take that position. His own two-story Flatbush house is in danger of being repossessed, after not paying his mortgage for a year. According to court papers.

Witnesses said a furious Parker came out of his Brooklyn house and told Lopez to get lost, but the photographer kept taking pictures. The two exchanged heated words and when Lopez tried to get into his car Parker jumped him.

Lopez said Parker, 42, damaged his driver’s-side car door and his camera, causing more than $1,000 in damage.

“He’s a hothead; there’s no getting around it,” a police source said after the incident.

Last September, an aide to the senator filed charges that Parker pushed her during an argument in the senator’s campaign headquarters.
Lucretia John told police Parker knocked her $300 glasses off her face and smashed them with his foot.
Parker confirmed there had been an argument, but said the 32-year-old John attacked him.

In 2005, Parker was ordered to undergo an anger-management course after he was charged with punching a traffic agent.

Today Parker’s lawyer was complaining that his client, is being treated more harshly than a Hollywood hothead who head-butted a fashion designer.

“Kiefer Sutherland broke somebody’s nose and got a desk appearance ticket. He was able to surrender himself and walk out a few hours later,” lawyer Lonnie Hart said.
Hart argued that Parker, 42, should have gotten a desk appearance, too.

“No one wants to be under arrest when he could have been given a desk appearance ticket,” Hart said outside Brooklyn Criminal Court where Parker was awaiting arraignment Saturday.

Sutherland, though, was charged with a misdemeanor while Parker was hit with a felony count of criminal mischief.

Hart would not comment on the report that his client hasn’t paid the mortgage on his Bedford Ave. home in a year.

Parker was elected to his fourth term from Brooklyn’s 21st Senatorial District last fall after besting City Councilmen Simcha Felder and Kendall Stewart in a Democratic primary in September.

When asked if Parker is worried his most recent anger-fueled incident will imperil his political future, Hart said: “That is for the people of Brooklyn to decide.”

To #1 All he does is send us invitations to come to meetings in churches and then he makes other meetings on Saturday afternoon or shabbas morning. It would be nice if he was going to make a meeting if it would be in a slightly “white” neighborhood or even borderline say Ocean Avenue. — but to have to go all the way into a black neighborhood in the evening is too much. We are not looking for problems! I used to vote for Parker but no more!!! He does absolutely NOTHING for me!! He is simply a figurehead!! A name! He makes a Halloween party, x-mas party, !! We did not put him into office to make parties!! We put him into office to do a job!! What has he done??? He cannot even give the job the respect due it!! I hope VIN posts my comment.

Simcha lost because he is not a hot headed guy. Maybe Simcha can learn from this scenario and start punching people in the face for double parking on 13th Ave.

Simcha should smack people up who drive while yapping on the cell phones and then we will vote for him and Simcha can win an election.

If this is what it takes Simcha should go for it.

I’m not trying to justify his actions, but I don’t know that I would take well to a reporter taking photographs of my house and then trying to flee the scene. These reporters are lowlifes, and I have little doubt that he was playing Parker knowing that there’s a good chance this would be the outcome of his taunts.

Doesn’t anyone see? I believe this senator was set up on purpose because they predicted he would act like this. Now they got him kicked off of his majority whip position. EXACTLY what they were hoping for when they sent the “reporter/photographer.”

Simcha lost because a lot of yiden voted for Parker. I hope Simcha sees his chance now because who knows when there will be an emergency election?

You accomplish nothing by losing your temper and punching somebody. All you do is end up in jail with charges pressed against YOU!! The best idea for any politician is to keep their cool!! That is something that Kevin Parker NEVER learned!! I called his office once or twice. I was disconnected very nicely by the young lady there. They are not used to hearing “White” voices! They do not like to hear complaints by constituents!! Try to give one!! I did not get very far!!
