New York – American Airlines To Offer One Way Mileage Bookings

New York – American Airlines is set to make changes in their frequent flyer policies. As reported by the Associated Press, the airline will begin to allow customers to redeem frequent flyer miles on one-way trips, using half of the miles required for use on round trip flights.

As noted in the report the changes will go into effect immediately. The new policies will reportedly make American Airlines the first major airline in the United States to offer customers the opportunity to redeem one-way ticket awards for fewer miles. Rod Friedman, president of marketing for AAdvantage, the airline’s frequent flyer program, is quoted by the AP as stating, “I think more customers will claim more awards…I think there will be more spontaneous kinds of trips.”
