New York – New York City doesn’t want people to have their hairstyles held against them, and it has unveiled novel anti-discrimination guidelines.

The city Human Rights Commission released the guidelines Monday. The New York Times first reported the guidelines and says they’re believed to be the first such measures nationwide.
They enable people to seek fines and other remedies if they’ve been harassed or punished in workplaces, schools or public spaces because of their hair texture or style.
The guidance says New Yorkers have the right to “maintain natural hair or hairstyles that are closely associated with their racial, ethnic or cultural identities.”
The protections apply to everyone but were prompted largely by what the commission calls “racist stereotypes that black hairstyles are unprofessional.”
Hair nets can still be required for health and safety reasons.
Great News. I am growing a Lange Payes.
Hair style says something about the person. Also the hair styles of people in an organization leaves the customer with an impression about that organization. It’s not discrimination when a business wants to betaken seriously.
The NY Yankees are a very respected ball club even when they aren’t doing well and that’s because, unlike other sports clubs, they give a very credible appearance by not allowing facial hair, etc. for their players.
Ronald McDonald and Bozo the Clown will soon be campaigning for laws against discrimination based on shoe style.
Good to see the important things the Clown mayor worries about. Lose 25,000 jobs no problem. Hair discrimination that’s a problem.
HAshomer will be proud of his mayor. Another great accomplishment for Mr Commie.
