San Francisco, CA – Lawyers for Michael Savage sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today, asking that she call on the British government to withdraw its ban on the top-rated radio talk host.

The letter issued by the nonprofit Thomas More Law Center appeals to international conventions, arguing Savage is being punished “for what he says in the United States and not what he has said or intends to say in the United Kingdom.”
In the announcement of the ban May 5 by British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, Savage, the letter notes, was listed among radical “Muslim clerics, convicted criminals and Russian skinheads.'”
The letter, signed by Thomas More’s president, Richard Thompson, also asks Clinton’s State Department to find out how Savage’s name ended up on the list.
Thompson argues Savage’s radio show is not broadcast in the U.K., and it’s unlikely many British citizens had even heard of him.
“It is extremely suspicious that the Home Secretary’s office would select an American radio talk show host to place on their so called ‘least wanted list,’ when that individual has never taken steps to enter their country,” Thompson writes.
Surely she has much more important things to do! (we hope)

Considering that EY has a policy of excluding just about anyone who they feel has expressed political views they consider sympathetic to terrorists without having to justify their decision, we should be careful about what we tell the UK about who they want to admit into their country

it isn’t savage’s fault that he was blocked from britain. the fact that he GETS to turn it into a publicity stunt is his last laugh.

While I find Savage to be a great entertainer, he has put Clinton in a very unfair position. She has no good options to deal with it:
Option 1: Make the call to the UK and try to resolve the situation.
REAL Conservatives (myself included) will have a field day with this. The barring of a comedian from another country is not the problem of the Secretary of State, and there are far more important things for her to be involved in. The United States Secretary of State should be far too busy too deal with something is inconsequential as this. If not, we need a new one!
Option 2: Ignore the issue.
I would prefer she do this (see the reason above). However, the PHONY conservatives on the radio like Limbaugh and Hannity will jump all over her for not defending American freedom or something lame like that. They will claim that she is just too hateful toward “conservatives”.
Hopefully she will let this slide right by her. The UK is a free country that has the right to ban anyone they want… as do we! Maybe Gordon Ramsay should be barred at the border too?
England has to show it’s large Moslem population that it is not just banning those dramatically infuriated sheiks, so they threw in Michael Savage to show off that the opposite of the hateful imams is also not wanted.

He is just very wary of making it known on his show.
