Agnew, who served for three years under Richard Nixon before resigning in 1973 in a corruption scandal from his time as the governor of Maryland in the 1960s, wrote to Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, then crown prince of Saudi Arabia, saying “I need desperately your financial support,” MSNBC reported Thursday.

“You highness is already familiar with the unrelenting Zionist efforts to destroy me,” Agnew wrote, adding that Elliot Richardson, who was attorney general when Agnew was vice president, “attacked” him because Agnew “could not be trusted to act properly in the Middle East.”

The reason, he also wrote, “was that the Zionists in the United States knew that I would never agree to the continuance of the unfair and disastrous favoring of Israel and they had to get me out of office there so that I would not succeed Nixon.”

Since 1974, “The Zionists have orchestrated a well-organized attack on me” through lawsuits, Agnew said, “to bleed me of my resources to continue my effort to inform the American people of their control of the media and other influential sectors of American society.”

Agnew, who died in 1996, resigned amid revelations that he had engaged in corruption while governor and did not contest his conviction. But in his letter to the prince, he said the Zionists “framed” him.

He spoke out frequently about what he called the “Zionist influences in the U.S.”

Spiro Theodore Agnew was a corrupt piece of garbage, who had actively accepted kickbacks, while Governor of Maryland. I remember that he kept stating “If indicted, I will not resign”. He finally made a deal with the Justice Dept., whereby he pleaded non contest to one count of income tax evasion, and fesigned in disgrace. Later, he blamed “the Zionists” for his downfall, and worked as a lobbyist for Saudi Arabia. We were extremely that Agnew resigned before Nixon did.

Agnew, who presented an image of strong family values, was the biggest hypocrite. Former Secret Service agents have stated that Agnew would ask for them to wait for him, while he went to a residence, where he would have a liaison, for a few hours, with a female, who was not his wife.

I was born in Maryland. I sort of followed his career when I was a kid. I recall the Israelis planted a forest in his honor.

To:PaulinSaudi- There is no record of any forest being planted in Israel in honor of Spiro Agnew.

To #5 - Regarding your cheap and vindictive remark, Trump never did what Spiro Agnew did, while he has been in office. Whatever Trump may have or may not have done, occurred while he was a private citizen. In Agnew’s case, while he was Vice President, he used the Secret Service as “lookouts”, while he had a romantic fling with a female, who was not his wife. He was a hypocrite, and an anti-semite.

He was right. The Zionists do have a terrible hold on America and have done enormous damage to the country. Nothing antisemitic about that. It’s true. How else does Netanyahu get 29 standing ovations in Congress? You think that’s because they all admire him?

To #9 - There is no way that Trump could stray while in the White House. He is watched continuously both in the White House, and outside of the White House, by leakers on his staff, as well as in the press. He has never (in two years), been accused of engaging in any extra-curricular social activities, while in office. He has been accused of a lot of things, but infidelity IN OFFICE, has not been one of them.
