In the course of the interview, Rabbi Spitzer said that classmates are calling for their lost friends by name, to no avail. “We explained to the children that they need to strengthen their Torah, davening, faith and trust, and to know that if G-d took these pure souls, it’s a sign that that’s what’s best for them, and that if they would be able to come down and tell their friends that it’s all good, they would certainly do so.”

Rabbi Spitzer also discussed his students’ emotions, saying: “We told the children that whoever feels like crying should do so and not hide their tears… Not everything has an answer, but we are consulting with the rabbonim about the questions the boys are asking now.”

My 1st grade child also lost a close friend due to cancer. the class so young to grasp wat happened but were given constant help through teachers and principles who were trained how to deal with the sad emotions. B”H they survived the trauma but one has to have lots of patience and feeling to deal with it with young kids thereby strengthening their emuna. may only hear good things and may Hashem help them get over it speedily.

Y can’t we tell kids that we do not question Hashem’s decrees. it happened because That’s wat Hashem wanted we do not understand y. but we do know Hashem loves them and us and they are now in 2 special place near Hashem Davening for us. be surprised but kids accept it very well. Besoros Tovos.

Seems to me that this principle needs to get some professional advice from REAL pshycologists. There are torahdige ones that can talk to the kids and train the teachers and hanhala how to respond to these innocent kids that have legimite questions.

I can’t believe all of you!!! We lost PEOPLE on that tragic Lag Beomer !!!! There are families and friends in pain and you are squabbling??? Take the time to love your children–they can be gone keheref ayin as well as anyone else can be gone keheref ayin. Please, folks–a little Ahavas Yisroel is what we need.
