The girl, who attends Beis Ruchel D’Satmar Girls School at 1415 54th St. in Borough Park, was about to retrieve a ball that had fallen off the roof at 3:30 p.m., cops said.
She stepped on a sky light, which serves as a ‘Chupa’ opening, and it collapsed, causing her to plummet 30 feet into the basement into Aters Chaya Wedding Hall.
A class was being held there, but no one in the room was hurt.
The room is often rented out for weddings. The skylight opens up so couples can tie the knot, in compliance with Jewish law, under the sky and a chupa, or canopy.
The little girl, who was not named, was taken by Hatzolah to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Wow! what a chesed from Hashem that she is alive!! Thank you Hashem for watching over our children every second of the day!
This is truly a ness that She’s alive and well. hope she’ll recover quickly and from the trauma. think the school should have built a fence round roof to prevent accidents especially it doesn’t get used for chuppas only the street.
Who is this kid? Maybe she can pick out my lottery numbers for me…
Boruch Hashem! a big miracle
Baruch Hashem Maybe its in the Zechus of n ACHDIS
Are you kidding me? Why was this skylight not fenced around if it was exposed to the kids playground? I guess UTA thinks this family won’t sue them either!!! For Shame. I hope the cops do a thorough investigation and I am saying this right here and right now. DOV HIKIND, this child is one of YOUR constituents. YOU should spear head this investigation, it is just another way that Satmar is taking our children for granted if they do not have safety precautions around dangerous areas on the roof. Do not show any rachmonus on them, as they showed no rachmonus on Joel Engelman and any of the other victims of Reichman. SAVE THE CHILDREN!

Wow! I was under the impression that Vosizneias had an all-Jewish audience. Now I see they even have some real anti-semites on too! For shame!
Dov….get on this right away…we need you Dov.
The skylight has a fence. Since it was built more than 10 years ago, no one ever attempted to climb it.
are you kiding me? a kid is hart and all you can say, let sue satmer. How about some
compassion for the child?.no one is saying the school is not at foult just there is time for taking care of it latter. Right now go daven for the child, that she shuld be ok.
THERE IS A 5 FOOT FENCE AROUND THE SKY LIGHT 100% I WAS ALOT ON THAT PLAY GROUND
Why does everything in the world have to do with chlld abuse? You all have filthy minds……
Let’s just blame Satmar! and if we can add to the mix a molestation from 20 years ago, all the better…

What is bugging you against satmar? Are you maybe an unhappy soul?
go get them you hater.
btw, is you last name Sharpton?
The fact is many schools let their kids on the roof > There should be an immediate city review with striingent and very rigorous safety rules by the city for child safety> No ands or buts– Every parent, child and teacher as well as school boards should feel comfortable that all precautions have been taken for safety.
Sue sue sue, that’s the problem in this City, every ‘Yokel’ or ‘Yokelta’ sues any chance they get for no reason whatsoever, most of the time. My neighbor, who’s a lawyer sues tons of people for the slightest reason and wins some of them thanks to our judicial system. He’s suing me for a million dollars, a case that’s dragging on for the last 8 years, only because he knows that I have good homeowners insurance. My insurance company, one of the biggest in the country, offered him $5000. just so he crawls back to the hole he came from, that’s how much theyn think the case is worth.
It’s a suing ‘mageifa’.
Although I am sure that some shyster ambulance chaser has already approached the family, they are probably more apt to have a big seudas hodaah and to thank Hashem that their daughter was not seriously injured B”H.
While they were under construction ten years ago, a section of scaffolding and other debris fell on my daughter while she was going up a flight of steps to her classroom.
She feels traumatized even after all these years. Nothing serious happened, though, and it would not occur to anyone to ever sue.
This gate should have been higher, this was a real miracle, and it is pure luck that ten years went by without any incidence.
Of course it’s a ness, just like everything is a ness.
Nisim happen all the time, and they MUST.
But I’m sure this little girl won’t be thinking all her life that this was a big nes.
She will just be trying to get better, and carry on growing up like before.
She will only know that people keep telling her it was a nes.She might think that perhaps ir really was.
And SHE is right! She went around her normal life, and she has full right to feel she got a raw deal of it to have have such an injury, because that too, should not have happened.
How many of us who say this was a nes, would like to have such a nes? i.e. such painfull injuries with everyone saying what a nes?
It is unfortunate that we live in a day and age of BLAME, every moment of lives is a miracle, some Miracles are more obvious and the others :seem’ normal.
And besides Dov Hikind who is he??? If it doesn’t mean his pocket he is not there to help. The community is badly in need of some REAL ASKANIM that are true Yiraei Shamayim and have our children’s interest at heart.
Has anyone even called Dov Hikind to ask for his help? Do you think he reads every posting on every blog all day long or that he reads minds and should know that the community wants him to be involved. Maybe you should call his office to let him know.
Sheree ignore all these people. You have many valid points. There are many times when dangers are ignored until something happens. a five foot fence is in no way high enough if children play nearby on a daily basis. there is no reason it does not have a metal cage covering it. I am sure that kids climb over that gate all the time to retrieve balls. It is the schools responsibility to make sure that such accidents cannot happen. people have accidents and get hurt all the time. What makes them accidents is that they are doing something innocuous and get hurt anyway because accidents happen. when people get hurt due to negligence it is not an accident, it could have been prevented. If hashem wants someone to be hurt it will happen but not due to someone’s negligence.
You know what, the world is not safe. There is only so much we can do to keep accidents from happening. There was a gate, the child climbed it and fell. That is life. Baruch Hashem she was saved but there is no one to blame. No matter what, people will complain about everything. What more can we do, put fenses on the sidewalks so children shouldnt run into the street?? ACCIDENTS HAPPEN!! Everytime there is an incident everyone points fingers, did you ever stop to think that that is what Hashem wanted to happen, and no matter how careful you are it will happen anyway because He wanted it to.
There should be a teacher there to supervise, at all times!!!!!! if there’s a fence that is in the vicinity, w. danger of climbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KIds will always be kids.
Just to keep the record straight:
“so couples can tie the knot, in compliance with Jewish law, under the sky and a chupa, or canopy. “
There is no such Halocho; though it is a widespread Minhag.
