Oxon Hill, MD – President Donald Trump says he will soon sign an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal resources.

In remarks Saturday to the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump highlighted concerns from some conservatives that their voices have been censored, whether on social media or at the nation’s universities.
Trump invited Hayden Williams to join him while he addressed CPAC. Williams was punched while on the campus of University of California, Berkeley, to recruit for the conservative group Talking Points USA.
Trump told the gathering that Williams “took a hard punch in the face for all of us.”
Williams says many conservative students face “discrimination, harassment or worse if they dare speak up on campus.”
This is where it gets tricky and there is no one size fits all.
On the one hand we need to protect free speech and I should be allowed to support whatever party I choose. On the other hand we don’t want nazism or radical Islam to spread on campuses. I think we need to pass tougher free speech laws butits also needs to pass tough anti free speech laws on specfic sects identified by 2/3 of congress.

I find the timing to be great. today bernie gave a speech at Brooklyn College.
Years ago my daughter was refused entrance to a speech at Brookly College discussing BDS. When my daughter explained that she had the right to attend she was threatened with assault. (Jewish people that did get in were later physically removed by police, under orders of a Puerto Rican employee who was never disciplined.) The then president at Brooklyn College declared that the incident did not happen and ordered security to not accept my daughters report.
We need FREE SPEECH on campus.
So all anti-Semitic speeches and meeting will be allowed on American Universities Campuses??
The President cannot deny funds when already appropriated by Congress. DOJ may (and should) prosecute those who violate civil rights, but threatening to withhold funds is unconstitutional.
He tried to do that with so-called ‘sanctuary cities’. The SCOTUS said that was in Congress’s domain, not the Executive’s prerogative..

Where to draw the line? The general line is free speech stronger, but free “violent “hate speech needs to be banned. Whats violent? Any speech that encourages or symbolizes murderers like radical islam and nazis.
