On Tuesday, authorities from the New York State Police, FBI, and State Office of Homeland Security joined local officials to announce the expansion. Local law enforcement officers will now have access to new tools, such as a pager-sized personal radiation detector.
Troop “E” Commander Mark Koss says it’s part of a new effort to protect the public from the detonation of a improvised nuclear device or “dirty bomb.”
Koss says it will allow law enforcement to passively and covertly monitor a particular highway, neighborhood or event for the presence of radiological materials.
He says these devices will also help police when examining commercial vehicles, or conducting regulatory duties related to transportation of hazardous materials.
Alarm activations will be reported to the New York State Intelligence Center, located near Albany.
Rochester Police Chief David Moore applauds the effort.
He says this technology, used by the city’s bomb unit, will make this a safer community.
Maybe they should start by stopping the terrorist training camps in our country like places in upstate new York as reported by fox news
