New York – Alan Dershowitz was among dozens of protesters outside the offices of The New York Times in Midtown Manhattan who decried the newspaper’s publication of a cartoon with anti-Semitic imagery.

The demonstrators on Monday night chanted “shame on you” and carried signs reading “Anti-Israel, Anti-Semitic, NYT Guilty” and “NYT guilty of 120 years of hatred,” as well as a sign with a yellow Star of David that read “NYT, should I be wearing this too?” among others.

The image, which appeared Thursday in the opinion section of the newspaper’s international print edition, depicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a dachshund-breed guide dog wearing a Star of David collar and leading a yarmulke-clad President Donald Trump.

The newspaper in a first statement acknowledged that the image was “offensive” and “included anti-Semitic tropes.” A second statement on Sunday said the newspaper was “deeply sorry” and that the decision to publish the image was the product of “a faulty process” resulting in “a single editor working without adequate oversight.”

Dershowitz, a former Harvard law professor and major Israel advocate, spoke at the rally and said the cartoon “is very painful for me.”

“I have written many, many dozens articles for The New York Times. … I’ve been a strong supporter of The New York Times,” he said. “But when I saw that cartoon yesterday, it just put me in mind of a very dark time in Jewish history. And I asked myself, ‘How could it have happened?’”

He added: “The only good thing The New York Times has ever done for the Jewish people is that it put a lie to the notion that the Jews control the media and use it to support their own interests.”

The Times announced Monday evening that it had ended its relationship with the syndication service that supplied the cartoon.

Times columnist Bret Stephens, who is Jewish, said Monday at a panel discussion at the New York University Global Center that writing the op-ed in response to the cartoon was an “easy” choice.

“The moment I saw the cartoon, I realized I’m either going to denounce it or feel ashamed of myself,” he said.

Stephens also said “it was easy because the senior leadership at the Times — the editorial page editor James Bennet, and people, in fact, more senior to him — were horrified by the publication of the cartoon. It took them by surprise.”

Alan Dershowitz said that the NYT has many, many times made “mistakes” on anti-semitism and anti-Israel, but he challenged the NYT to show even just one time where it made a mistake in favor of Israel…

Anyone buying the NYT is supporting anti-semitism. Buy The Wall Street Journal as it seems much more favorable to us, or at least balanced. It is also very informative on many topics. Support those that support us.

Why did Dersh come out from under a rock to protest NYT when he was ok with his Orange Fuhrer calling his nazis ‘fine people’? The NYT sucks for its anti-Israel stance but Trumpf has released his alt-white garbage to attack Jews everywhere.

At one of the Israelis’ Day Parade on 5th Ave, I watched over 100,000 march and cheer the floats go by. At one point on Central Park, adjacent to 5th Ave, around 20 Arabs marched with placards such as ‘free palestine’.
The next day , the N.Y.Times had a full photo on its page one, of, you guessed it, the arabs.: 100,000 Jews, 20 Arabs, and the picture on the front page showed the arabs.
Then and there I dropped getting the farshtunkeneh Times.

So just to debunk the rotten liars on here who claim that its only anti Bibi. Well thats BS. The times has made tzarus for klal yisroel way before Bibi. I remeber the intifida and their daily lies cheeping jewish blood. And don’t forget the intifida started under Ehud Barak a left wing poltican who offered Arafat yimach shimo everything under the sun. Yet the failing NYT only cried for the poor Palestinians inlcuding lies and lies about who was killed by israeli’s etc.. (Remb the fake pic they posted then a girl by israeli tanks?)

So don’t go writing any BS that its anti Bibi. Its a lie.

It should be noted that of all the tourist publications about NYC, including Frommer’s, Fodor’s, etc, with the exception of one of them, the others don’t even mention that parade, although they all mention the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the West Indian Day Parade, the Gay Pride Parade, the Columbus Day Parade, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and the Puerto Rican Day Parade. When I confronted the Editor’s of those publications, I was told that “it was an oversight, and they would include that parade in their next edition”. However, it was a lie, as it was never included in subsequent editions. Another editorial assistant became hostile, and would not give me a definitive reason why the Israel Day Parade was not included. Also, there is no coverage of that parade on any of the cable tv channels (including Fox), or the network tv channels. There is some limited coverage on the local tv channels, but there is always coverage of a handful of Arab protesters, near the parade. Incidentally, since that parade has saluted Israel for fifty five years, shouldn’t the Israeli government have an annual “Salute to America Day”, in appreciation of what we’ve done for them, for 71 years?

It is a shame that the NYT has gotten so used to pushing its liberal leftist agenda that they can use talented staff to produce news that is tainted with their personal leftist agenda.
