Miami – A mother who turned to activism after the slaying of her black teen son Trayvon Martin has announced she is running for office in Miami.

The Miami Herald reports Sybrina Fulton will be entering the race to join the 13-member board of Miami-Dade County commissioners.
Fulton said in a Saturday statement that she would continue working to end gun violence. She will challenge Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert for the seat that is up for grabs in 2020 because of term limits.
Trayvon’s parents head a foundation and have been recognized for their work on gun reform and social justice.
Trayvon was unarmed when shot dead by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was later acquitted on the grounds of self-defense. His death sparked the Black Lives Matter movement.
This biased article doesn’t state what her son Trayvon Martin, was doing at the time of his death. As was testified to at the trial of George Zimmerman, Martin was repeatedly slamming Zimmerman’s head into the concrete. Hence, he was using the concrete as a deadly weapon. If Zimmerman would not have shot Martin, he would have been dead. The trial was a show trial, which was conducted, because of the tense racial atmosphere which existed. The news media tried to make Trayvon Martin appear as a choir boy, and repeatedly would publish photos of him, taken a long time ago. It was very similar to the poisoned atmosphere, which existed in NYC, at the time of the trial of Bernhard Goetz, regarding a shooting on the NYC subway in 1984. Instead of Obama keeping his nose out of the matter, he stated “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon”.

To Aron1- If you would bother to read the transcript of the trial, you would note that there was at least one witness in that apartment complex, who testified to Martin repeatedly slamming Zimmerman’s head into the concrete, and heard Zimmerman screaming, as his head kept striking the concrete. The medical evidence (of the injuries to Zimmerman’s head), was also noted at the trial, if you would bother to research it. It is too bad that Martin was killed, but he chose to attack Zimmerman, throw him to the ground, and pound his head into the concrete. He did so, because he didn’t like being followed by Zimmerman. I’m not saying that Zimmerman used prudent judgment in following Martin; however, his actions, although they may have been annoying to Martin, were not illegal.
And what’s her qualifications?
What are Her qualifications, you ask? She’s black. Nothing else. Like obama.
