The shooting occurred at around 2 a.m. Thursday near exit 5A in the Orange County community of Montgomery.
Troopers were responding to reports of a disabled vehicle in the middle of the highway and a man walking along the westbound shoulder.
State police say in a news release that one trooper got out of the patrol car and spoke to the man while the other drove alongside them.
Police say the man refused to comply with their commands.
They say that the man was trying to get into the police car when the trooper outside shot him.
The man died at a hospital.
Does this mean I can shoot anyone who wants to get into my car?
Shot for having a broken car. This NY troopers are out if control. First they give me a ticket for speeding, now this!
Trigger happy NYS Troopers, who kill an unarmed motorist for trying to get into their car, after his car was disabled. I remember in 1971, how the NY State Troopers murdered unarmed prisoners at Attica State prison, as well as their hostages, when they engaged in an orgy of out of control gunfire. Worse, they got away with that, as they will undoubtedly get away with this killing.
This is cold blooded Murder.
The guy was probably scared to continue walking on the side of the road so he tried to jump in the Police car. What happened to humanity???
Were you there? Do you believe everything you read?
To:#4- Use common sense, which Hashem gave you; the cops today, are so afraid that everyone is out to shoot them, that they will fire at any individual, who makes a sudden move in their direction. For example, in Minneapolis, there was a Somali-American cop, who shot dead a female pedestrian, who knocked on the window of a patrol car. He didn’t even bother to investigate, before he shot and killed her. She was the one who called for assistance, in the first place. Thankfully, that cop was convicted of third degree murder, and manslaughter, and will be sent to jail. Also, there was the Chicago cop, who was convicted of murder, for killing an unarmed teen, who was walking away form him; the latter cop fired more than a dozen times. This insanity has to end now; while I believe in protecting the lives of cops, they should also protect the lives of civilians, and not start shooting, at the drop of a hat, because “they feel threatened, or that their lives are in danger”.
Police murders have not been as low as now in a couple of generations. It has not been so safe to be a policeman in living memory.
