Williamsburg, NY – Currently the Kent Avenue bike lane runs from Quay Street to Clymer Street. But from DOT’s project presentation reported here on VIN News, the new route would continue several blocks further south, to Flushing Avenue.

The other big difference: Kent’s existing Class 2 bike lane would become a two-way, physically-protected route. With auto traffic on Kent converted to one-way flow, this enables the return of on-street parking and loading zones, which bike lane foes had clamored for.
DOT unveiled the proposal at a forum on Wednesday, and the Brooklyn Paper reported that at least one vocal opponent of the bike lanes, Leo Moskowitz, has been won over.
The revised plans for the bike lanes are a great improvement. These lanes make it easier and safer for yiddishe men and women in WB to get out of their cars and use bikes to run errands, shop, go to shul or mikvah or just go out and get some exercise.
Thank Leo Moskowitz for that
the fight isn’t over why dos the people on flushing have to suffer?
WOW,, this is accomplishment, the people of Williamsburg know how to fight they are the best….
i hope this this idea will be ready this summer so everybody will have a good time….
We could use a bike lane on 13 ave
Now Williamsburg has lots of new bike lanes and we can stop driving so much and buying gasoline and sending all of our money to Saudi Arabia and other countries that have oil and hate us for who we are. I look forward to the ability to go to shul and do errands on a bike. Biking is a mitzvah. Biking is tikkun olam. I am glad that Leo and his misguided friends were unable to eliminate the bike lanes. This plan is even better for cyclists than the one before.
This is a very good plan, i think everybody likes this idea; it’s always good to listen to the people on Kent Av. I heard they came up with this idea may god bless them, that community is smart and always trying very hard and finely DOT was ready to take this to reality and ready to implement on month of July, that’s a big accomplishment
WOW,, this is accomplishment…………………
I am a cyclist I love this idea I hope this is in process for this summer so I and my friends will enjoy it to ride this summer like we ride for the last couple of years.
We always like the Williamsburg community for there hard and good work!! Just keep it up!!!
ALL THIS BIKING IS UNREALISTICK , ITS OK FOR THE WEEKEND OR DAYS OFF ,BUT TO TAKE SPACE AWAY FROM ALREADY CONGESTED STREETS AND CREATE MORE CONGESTEN ,TO SERVE A SMALL MINARITY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE A LOT OF DAILY FREE TIME TO BIKE ,(THESE ARE USAULY PEOPLE THAT DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A 9 TO 5 JOBS) IS UNFAIR ,THE ONLY REASON THIS CAME ABOUT IS BECAUSE THESE SAME PEOPLE HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO SEND E MAILS ALL DAY AND HAVE PETITIONS SIGND.IN ALL OTHER AMERICAN CITYS THE BIKE PATHS ARE AWAY FROM THE ROADS AND ARE SITUATED IN PARKS .AND HERE IN BROOKLYN THESE SAME PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN SUCCESFUL IN CLOSING PROSPECT PARK TO MOTER VEHICLES 24 7 ,AND THAT IS PLENTY OF SPACE TO DO BIKING ,BUT NO THESE PEOPLE HAVE ONE AGENDA AND ONLY ON AGENDA TO BE IN YOUR FACE (THAT IS 9 TO 5 PEOPLES FACES).
