Rabbi Goldstein from the Chabad of Poway addresses UN on combating anti-semitism. United Nations – We are going to flood the Internet to encourage people to do good deeds… to do random acts of kindness, which will bring light to the world,” said Chabad of Poway’s Rabbi Yisroel Golstein at the UN General Assembly ‘s meeting on antisemitism on Wednesday.

“Don’t fight darkness in the world with darkness, fight darkness with light,” Goldstein said.

Goldstein encouraged social media users not to use the Internet in the same way as the Poway synagogue “terrorist” did.

“Let us turn the swords of social media into a conduit of light and kindness.”

The rabbi was wounded when a gunman burst into his synagogue on April 27, killing Lori Gilbert-Kaye and injuring the rabbi in both of his hands. Two others were wounded in the attack.

The rabbi said that he had lost his finger, and that with “our fingers” we should be pointing out the good and not the bad in each other.

“Don’t use your finger to point at [the bad of] each other,” he said. Use the finger to point at each other what is good about us.”

“We were all put on this Earth for a purpose,” he emphasized.

“Antisemitism is a problem for the world, it is not a Jewish problem,” he said. “It is the longest problem of the world.

Antisemitism is not just about the Jewish people, it is about the future of civilization. We have to ask, do you want to live in a world blood and tears? or world of love and beauty?”

“Lori Kaye did not deserve to die because she came to synagogue,” the rabbi said. “The reason that she died is because she was a Jew. I was shot because I am a Jew.”

He also called on all the nations of the world to go back to the basics, “I ask every nation to take on and apply the seven Noahide laws.”

The speech was very good; however, there were many empty seats in the General Assembly hall. Outside of some western countries, the majority of the delegates to the UN, could care less about the plight of the Jews, and anti-semitism. Even in the USA, the average gentile looks the other way. Rabbi Goldstein correctly pointed out that anti-semitism is not a Jewish problem, but a world problem. Most goyim will either deny that anti-semitism exists, try to minimize it, say that it is our imagination, or say that either we caused the problem or “are too sensitive”. I regret that there are even some Jews who share that opinion.

It sounds like a very positive speech and it is good of him to turn the horror into something beautiful. Unfortunately, there looks Ike there are many empty seats but that is also unfortunately, not a surprise. There is most undoubtedly Anti Semitism all over the World and yes here in America. However, the word is used far too often and for every slight against or toward a Jewish person. In most cases it is bigotry, prejudice, hatred or fear of the different, (bad enough) but not Anti-Semitism. Nazi Germany was Anti Semitism. Europe for most of its History was Anti Semitism. “Jews shall be forbidden to….” That is Anti-Semitism. In the Rabbi’s words we all have to care for each other and not only ourselves. Many Christians, Muslims, Atheists etc. etc. and yes Jews too, see us as self centered and only concerned for our own. Understandably so, we’ve needed to be self sustaining after the expulsion and destruction of the Temple for 2,000 years. But now, for example “Goyim”, or Non-Jew is an insult. As if what they are is wrong. Never Forget the 6,000,001 of the Holocaust is indeed self-centered. 60,000,001 people died in WWII mainly Non-Jews. We don’t mention them. A Holocaust survivor I knew from Goshen, NY wanted to donated to the NY Holocaust Memorial when it was being built, her clothing and cap she saved from the Concentration Camps. So she had proof for when people forgot. She was refused. Why? Because she was Christine Peters, and her years of dodging Death every single day, did not fit Our Narrative of 6 Million and One. On this very website any time a Jew does a good deed outside of our group there are cries “they should have given it to Jews!” The Gift to Notre Dame in Paris for example is a Gift to Jews as much as France. It proves many of us care about others. Going to the UN and speaking of the Worlds Problem with hating ANYONE who is different is what we need to do. Become the spokesperson against ALL discrimination in the World. The Rabbis speech was a good start. But we need to come out of our mirrored bubble and start looking at other people and their problems as well. Become one small part of the whole of Humanity. Many Goyim died getting us out of the Ghettos we shouldn’t go back in and make their deaths be pointless.
