Trump announced the news with Acosta by his side at the White House as Trump left on a trip to the Midwest.
Acosta says stepping aside was the right decision.
He was the U.S. attorney in Miami when he oversaw a 2008 nonprosecution agreement with Epstein. Epstein avoided federal charges and served 13 months in jail.
Similar charges recently filed against Epstein by federal prosecutors in New York had put Acosta’s role in the 2008 deal under renewed scrutiny.
Another ethically challenged unqualified trumpf appointee OUT. Does that make 40 of his crooked administration resigned in disgrace, indicted or in jail, or 50? So much loooosing. More to come from Jeffrey Epstein’s sex perversions.
Now chucky Shmukey should step down.
He took millions and was buddies this lowlife.
All dem-O-rats are low life’s.
What a winner!!! Hires only the best!!!
Get ready for Faux News and Tucker promoter of alternate facts to the unEDucated Trump Chumps Carlson to spin this as an indication of the superior intelligence and higher morals and ethics of Donald J. (the J is for jenius, by the way) Trump.
Served longer than most of the people he started with. Guessing we will get an acting labor secretary with no appointment for a while.
I predicted on this site yesterday, that Acosta was toast. Whenever Trump says that “they have my full support”, it is just a matter of time before they are out the door. We saw this with General Mattis, General Kelly, General McMaster, Scaramucci, Omarosa, the aide who beat his two ex-wives, Shulkin, and others.
Also, to Educated Archy, why difference does it make if they went after Epstein now, or before? There was no statute of limitations on many of those crimes, which Epstein is accused of (and has been convicted of), and many victims are coming forward now. This has nothing to do with Trump, and I can’t understand why you try to connect the matter of Epstein to Trump. Incidentally, if you wish to answer this post, kindly do so in a civil manner, without using language of the gutter. Don’t forget that it is just before Shabbos.
