Mr. Nahmani, an Israeli-born father of 5, was sentenced in 2015 to a maximum 20 years in prison for conspiring to distribute a synthetic drug commonly known as Spice and K2 that he bought from suppliers in China.

Mr. Nahmani is a non-violent, first-time offender with no criminal history. He has five young children at home and his wife is suffering from terminal cancer. These extenuating circumstances underscore the urgency of his request for clemency.

Members of Congress and a broad cross-section of the legal community have expressed support for clemency for Mr. Nahmani. These include several distinguished senior Department of Justice officials, numerous prosecutors and judges, and many reputable legal scholars. Among his supporters are former United States Attorneys General Edwin Meese and Michael Mukasey, former Solicitor General Seth Waxman, former Senator Orrin Hatch, Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul, Representatives Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, Anthony Brown, Bradley Schneider, Darren Soto, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Eliot Engel, Frederica Wilson, Hakeem Jeffries, Lois Frankel, Ted Lieu, Tom McClintock, and many others.

Why are we celebrating the release of a convicted drug dealer? It isn’t as if he was jailed for being Jewish, or performing mitzvos, or for political reasons. He was attempting to profit by selling drugs to our children and families.

What about commuting the sentence of former Governor Rod Blagojevich, who has already served seven years in prison (with another seven years to go), for political corruption. Trump should let that man go home to his family, as he has suffered enough for his transgression. Trump promised that he would do so, but still has not done so. Also, this November marks four years that Jonathan Pollard has been under a very restrictive parole. He is under virtual house arrest for 12 hours per day. He cannot attend Shul in the evening, as he has to be back at his four story walk up apartment before 7PM. He must charge his monitor, in violation of Shabbas and Yom Tov. He has no access to the Internet, either, and is restricted to a very small area of Manhattan. The man has paid his debt to society, with 30 years in prison, a number in solitary confinement. Even his parole officers have stated that they never saw such restrictive parole conditions, imposed on a non-violent, first time offender. The Justice Dept. is just being vindictive. Mr. President, kindly commute Pollard’s sentence, already!

As much as I sympathize with the convict due to his wife’s illness, don’t lose sight of the fact that the man is a criminal who was involved with deadly drugs. It’s a huge chillul Hashem that the man was in a position to have a 20 year sentence commuted by the President.

What’s wrong with your president Trump? Will he pardon Epstein next? He only took dozens of young girls across state lines and raped them. He was a member of Mar A Lego.

Our drug laws are too harsh, and justice must be tempered with mercy.

Very nice, a pardon for someone selling POISON to our children. He is lucky he wasn’t caught in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand. By now they would have stopped saying kaddish for him. You rejoice because he was a jew, the same way you did when SMR was incarcerated for gneiva.

Spice and K2 is not marijuana – its synthetic canniboids that try to mimic marijuana effect on the human Endocanniboid system. These are dangerous chemicals that are constantly changing and from china that have diff potency that you can’t know how much is in each bag etc. the effects are hundreds of times worse than regular weed and people get addicted to this crap. why are we celebrating the release of someone selling this poison again? because he’s frum? so if he was African american or hispanic would all of you say the same thing?

The reason why frum kids are overdosing is bec of people selling this poison if everyone sold weed we wouldn’t have this.

I like the way some comments here are talking as if they know exactly how many ppl got harmed by this man’s crimes. Most of these know-it-all’s didn’t here about this case until an hour ago, and they know the case inside out better than all the lawyers and advocates that were pushing for this commutation

Politicians should not be allowed to commute prison sentences. I’m sure some of it is done for their personal gain (Clintons). He should have thought about how his actions might affect his 5 children before he got involved with drugs. What difference how many kids a felon has-he did the crime so he should do the time.

As long as the rasha wears a yarmulka, or says he loves those that do, you’ll support him unconditionally. Says a great deal about your standards. Feh

All your comments are always rationalizations. “People fall on hard times and get tempted”. Give me a break. “Are you so perfect?” Yes I am. I wouldn’t knowingly do something that could hurt another human being. He should have worried about his kids suffering. Do I worry about children that have parents that are incarcerated for committing felonies- NO. Your “totrah” doesn’t have much influence on the criminal justice system in the USA. If the man wasn’t Jewish I’m sure you would be ”singing a different song”.
