U.S. Magistrate Judge Jon Stuart Scoles imposed the sentence Friday on 31-year-old Karina Freund of Fayette.

Freund, who was an employee in the human resources department at the Postville plant, pleaded guilty in December 2008 to one misdemeanor count of aiding and abetting a pattern of hiring undocumented aliens.

The Agriprocessors plant was the site of a massive immigration raid in May 2008. It now has a new owner, which bought it out of bankruptcy last year.

She was a minor player in the whole mess that SMR created so her sentence is fair.

And if she had gotten 10 years you’d be happy? The buck stops with SMR. You know it, I know it and the court knows it. If SMR hadn’t hired illegals to save money he wouldn’t be facing jail time – unless of course he would have stolen the money anyway.

Stop making everything out to be yidden versus goyim. SMR is a crook in any religion.

Many, many people who knew SMR offered to help him straighten out the problems he had with undocumented workers, labor violations, EPA violations, etc He ignored them all and said he would take care of things his own way. This poor clerk in the HR department got an appropriate sentence for her role in this sordid affair. And, SMR will get an appropriate sentence for his role as well. The people who seems to be getting off free are Aron Rubashkin, Hesehy Rubashkin, Chaim Abrahams, and Yossie Gurarie – the other family members who ran and continue to run day-to-day operations at this plant.
