The Jewish holiday of Purim is quickly approaching and Jewish people are giving back by making gifts of food, or Mishloach Manot, to send to Jewish members of the military around the world.
Purim is a celebration that commemorates the Persian Jewish people’s victory over Haman many years ago.
People say that after centuries of persecution, freedom and security cannot be taken for granted. They admit that Purim is an opportunity to show gratitude and to give thanks to the individuals who today are sacrificing so much for the freedom and security of America.
I dnt understand…why wouldn’t jews pack things for the reguler american solders on they’re holidays….after all they are protecting us more them israli solders…qhy are jews so self senterd
Hooray Rabbi Slatus!!
Jews support all troops, that includes their own. If they don’t do this, others will not.
There has been a similiar effort done here in Monsey, where thanks largely to the Fuerst’s, Jewish soldiers around the world are sent packages thruout the year and yom tovim. I do know that there are also packages sent to non-jewish soldiers in the group. Hakaras Hatov is universal !! Thank you to ALL the brave men and women out there who fight to protect our freedom!! May G-d Bless you all!!
