Congregation Khal Torath Chaim’s proposal on Babcock Lane is near several other proposed religious schools and the controversial 497-home Patrick Farm housing development proposed at Routes 202 and 306.

Another religious school is being planned at a Route 306 house where a calf was slaughtered last year, and a school with dormitories for rabbinical students also is proposed nearby.

About a dozen local residents spoke out against the school proposed on 17 acres along Babcock Lane for up to 80 students ages 13 to 16.

The board voted 5-1 to approve the development plans on Tuesday night.

So glad I escaped to Bergen County years ago. I saw the writing on the walls about the direction Monsey was heading.

Frankly, I’m shocked this was approved. Those who would oppose it are virulently anti-semitic. The comments sections in their secular paper is disgusting. Let’s hope the yeshiva can conduct themselves in a way that will be a light unto Monsey.

Why shouldn’t this be approved? The right piece of property was chosen in accordance with community standards, they did not try to open illegally and then claim antisemitism or persecution from “self hating” Jews, and they respected the norms of the community. THAT is how it is done and they should serve as an example to those who would defaecate on the community by operating criminally and then claim “antisemitism” when they got caught.

Does anyone know where I can send a check to show support for them?

I live in pomona. There is already a girls school nearby and it doesnt bother anyone here. In fact, it is a great help because it serves as a summer camp in the summer is quite convenient. The only people that might be affected is the people who live on or two streets in Pomona such as Stag Ct (sorry, shayma)

Lets see if they actually follow the proposal, or build illegally as they usually do.

    Overdevelopment!

It is not just the Goyim that oppose the over development there are many frum jews who could hardly qualify as Anti-Semites (mind you someone will figure out a way) who oppose the over-development of Rockland county. My parents moved to Monsey 28 years ago when it was a beautiful suburban area. The roads simply were not designed to withstand this kind of congestion. The water system was not built to handle this kind of capacity , and frankly most people jews included who moved up to Monsey from the city, moved here for a reason and that reason is disappearing. It is not anti-semetic to dislike what has happened in Ramapo!!!!

these people are destroying the quality of life that originally prompted yidden to flee NYC for the suburbs. The frum sections of Monsey now look like slums with cheap high density townhouses and garden apartments crammed into every available space, cars and vans parked on the sidewalks and lawns, whatever little landscaping, shrubs and trees there was not maintained and dead or dying. The lawns are all weeds or just dirt. And they want to squeeze more families into this area. What a shame they are destroying what they originally came here for.
