“Fighting anti-semitism at the root is a challenge for the whole of society, even if the vast majority of people do not think in an anti-semitic way,” she wrote in a long piece in the Suddeutsche Zeitung daily.

Merkel vowed that she would “always” fight against anti-semitism even if that led to “insulting letters about being a ‘puppet of the Jewish conspiracy’ and worse”.

She encouraged Germans to talk unflinchingly about World War II and the Holocaust, when Nazi Germany masterminded and carried out the murder of six million Jews.

“It is essential for the understanding of our identity and of our future to talk about Nazism and the extermination of the Jews,” she wrote.

Denying that the Holocaust took place is illegal in Germany.

The Chancellor is due to attend a Victory Day parade in Moscow’s Red Square on Sunday — though French President Nicolas Sarkozy and reportedly Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi have cancelled due to the European financial crisis.

We must acknowledge and support the German Chancellor’s efforts. At least she is trying to do repentance in a small way for what her people did to the world and our people. There are many German’s who have taken up the task of doing repentance. However, there are still many other Germans who have no regrets and if they could do it again they would. Our people have suffered greatly from the hands of Germany throughout history. In medievil times several 100,000 Jews were buthchered in riots with no one to protect them. Hitler YM”S only finished off what was started in earlier times. Germany has a legacy of butchering Jews. It is in their nature as the Goan of Villna said that the Germans are Amalek, our arch eternal enemy. Therefore, we must always be vigilant about Germany and support any efforts to curb anti-Jewish sentiments and movements before they grow into something worse. Am Yisroel Chai!
