Residents of the south Tel Aviv Hatikva neighborhood are reeling from the brutal murder of an 89-year-old man in his home by armed robbers on Friday morning.

Mishel Abramov, accompanied by a caretaker, was ambushed by the robbers when he came home from prayers at the Yismach Moshe synagogue, the two masked men forced him into his home at gunpoint. Inside, the men attempted to rob Abramov and his wife, while their caretaker looked on in fear.

One of the men shot Abramov in the stomach. Police suspect the shot was fired after Abramov resisted the robbers, possibly trying to summon help.

Magen David Adom paramedics were called shortly after 7 a.m., and took Abramov to Ichilov Hospital at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, where he died.

“We’re simply scared to walk around here,” a neighbor told Ma’ariv on Friday. “If you walk around with a necklace there will be someone to snatch it off you immediately.”

A court-ordered media ban on all details of the homicide investigation was obtained by police on Friday afternoon.

Police believe Abramov was targeted by a gang that has systematically robbed seniors in recent months. He owned a number of apartments in the building where he lived.

The robbers apparently hoped that Abramov held large amounts of cash from rents he collected.

Tel Aviv police head Cmdr. Shahar Ayalon and other senior officers were at the scene of the crime, while forensic officers gathered evidence to take to police labs for analysis.

Its unfortuante that this kind of violence also happens in EY. Its also another reminder that you should never resist an armed robber or mugger for any reason.

These robbers are not jews. They are the result of Israel’s lax immigration policies allowing irreligious rooskies to enter the holy land.

South Tel Aviv now has a huge community of illegal African immigrants from Sudan. They pay Egyptian smuglers to bring them across Sinai into Israel and request amnesty for persecution by the Arab Muslims !!! They are not Jewish. They are black muslim. The liberal Israelis allow them to stay – in South Tel Aviv with the poor Jewish community there. Lately though, the Africans are being sent to Arad, a beautiful town by Beer Sheva. Arad now has a crime ridden inner city like South Tel Aviv. Yidden cannot walk around without getting mugged by these illegal immigrants. What is Israel coming to?

Anyone living here in E”Y knows that the Russians are the ones responsible for most of the crime here. They also introduced the drinking culture. Huge mistake to have let them in.

No matter how hard the real jews (haredim) protest they have never killed anyone. Here are our beloved zionist heros in their true glory for all they are worth. Think long and hard about which side you are on before bashing haredim.

It’s traditional to actually have a particular suspect, collect evidence, and have formalities like a prosecution, defense and judges before convicting people. And it’s generally considered good form to condemn the person who actually committed the crime, not huge groups of people who are related to someone you think might have done it.

    Just sayin’ y’know…

How does calling a fellow yid a rasha and other demeaning names in any way justify the fact that he was killed? Have you people no compassion for your brothers? Are not most of you writers children or grandchildren of immigrants? Had one of your relatives been killed on the streets of NY would it have been OK if he had been Polish and not native-born? How despicable of you!

We do not know who committed this crime. However, it says in the Talmud that Jews are Rachmonim Be’nai Rachmanim. This means that it is not in the nature of a true Jew to committ an act of murder especially for money. Although, we cannot say anything for sure, based on this teaching in the Talmud the likely murders were either non-Jews or decendants of converts. We know from the Torah that Eretz Yisroel cannot tolerate the spilling of innocent blood. This is a horrorable crime. Hashem said to Kayin “Your brother’s blood(s) is crying from the ground to Me” Woe to us that such a tradgedy has happened to our people in the Holy Land! The air of Israel is holy. Our deeds affect the very air of the world. Therefore, as Jews we must make every effort to create a Torah true environment based on love for one another so the air of the world can become purified which will prevent things like this from happening. We dare not become complacent and ignore the plight of our fellow Jews. It goes against the Torah to say that this is not my business, I don’t want to get involved. We cannot ignore the commandment of “Do not stand idlly by the your brother’s blood.”

Without addressing this specific crime, I’d like to state that the naivete on this board in incredible. In Eretz Yisrael, there are about 100-`130 homicides yearly. A good percentage, perhaps 30%-50%, are in fact committed by Jew against Jew. There are also other serious crimes in Eretz Yisrael committed by Jews against other Jews, even by frum Yidden. Let us remove the blinders from our eyes, and admit that these sort of crimes occur not only in Eretz Yisrael, but at times in our own community. If one does a statistical analysis of all of the Jews (frum and non-frum) locked up in the New York State prison system, and other prisons across the USA (men and women), they are not all there for white collar crimes. Some have been convicted of crimes, involving violence. Sad, but true.

This is reminder that we are jews. And non jews still hate the jews. We need to keep our distance from them, and smell 10 miles before if any sticky stuff can appear. put your right hand on the מזוזה before the right foot is out. think of hashem name placed on the door, think of him a second, pray to him in your mind please protect me from all these walking creatures. When you come put back your hand and smile in your heart, yes hashem you did not leave me alone even a second, what a wonderful outing. The world is very dangerous but being a jew this relaxes a person do enjoy life and the same time thinking of hasem. Now when we go out summer lets always remember from hashem – and he will automatically remember from us.

This looks like the work of addicts.

The victim HYD was Bukharan, and because the Bukharans are industrious, entrepreneurial people it is known or believed that the shoe repair and barber shops they run (very well) in EY as well as in NY are actually (mostly legitimate) sources of cash for many other businesses held by these hard working, decent family men. And as they are from the former Soviet Union where you never trusted the bank or government, and where you did business only with your own people (meaning fellow Bukharans or in some cases Lubavitchers who fled to Samarkand and Tashkent during the war) it is believed they have much cash on their person or in their shops. I have had many a pair of shoes repaired in EY and as I speak Russian, I chat with the shop owners, who then hand me business cards for their construction or import businesses as well.

And sadly, among the ones who know that Bukharan shoe repair men are “loaded” are the addicts and dregs of society who would murder an old man for cash. These addicts were around before the FSU aliya of goyim; they are the sad products of the deracination of their grandparents in the maabarot.
