New York – An upstate dealer selling what he claims is an original copy of Schindler’s list has been hit with a lawsuit that says it’s a fake.

Marta Rosenberg, heir to the widow of German industrialist Oskar Schindler, demanded in court papers filed Friday that Gary Zimet halt the $2.2 million sale.
The artifact is billed as one of several surviving copies of a list of names that saved hundreds of Jews from death at the hand of the Nazis and inspired a Hollywood movie.
“If Zimet is permitted to offer for sale…what he purports to be the List, when in fact it is not a true copy of the List, such transaction would cause irreparable harm to Rosenberg,” the suit says.
The Argentine woman, who wrote a biography of Schindler and his widow, contends a will gives her exclusive rights to anything that belonged to the couple.
“She’s insane,” Zimet roared. “She’s out of her…mind.”
Zimet, who works in Washingtonville, insisted he’s selling the real deal.
“It is 100% fine,” said Zimet.
Although Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award-winning film, “Schindler’s List,” suggests there was only one list, several copies were actually drafted and most of the ones that survived are in museums in Israel and the U.S.
Zimet’s has the names of more than 800 Jews who were saved from German concentration camps during World War II.
I personally dealt with zimet before. I still have a few bounced checks from him. Man is wicked
