New York, NY – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg personally answered a call to the city’s 311 information hotline Monday to mark its 100 millionth call.

The information line has fielded calls since Bloomberg created it in March 2003. Last year alone, the line got a record 18.7 million calls, more than 50,000 per day.
Bloomberg answered his call by saying “Good afternoon, thank you for calling 311, this is Mike.”
It was about garbage pickup. He passed it to an operator to handle.
The most common call is about noise. More than 2 million calls, or 2.1 percent, have been noise complaints.
The actual 100 millionth call came in Sunday morning and was about an abandoned vehicle.
THis is hysterical that Miek Bloomberg would answer the phone and the complaint is about garbage. So of course he passed the phone call to someone else! What garbage!
Maybe he’ll answer why he is allowing the MTA to discontinue the 40 year old X-29 Express Bus which takes the frum people from Flatbush to their jobs in Manhattan everyday.
This (311) is one that comes credit for bloomberg
Quick pr stunt job well done
he got what he deserves! GARBAGE!
This is actually pretty funny bec I was In the car with someone yesterday and he called 311 bout hov lanes(of course she didn’t know) but he then asked to speak to the mayor and she said he wasn’t there must of been to late
Who doesn’t remember juiliani on the radio , taking calls and helping people big time. Bloomberg just did this to get a kick out of it.
He needs it, specifically after the bed rep when he was nowhere to be found at the ferry crash. I know ppl are quick to defend, but when there is a tragedy of this magnitute, it is appropriate for the mayor to show up which creats calm. Giulliani woulkd have done it and every self respecting statesmen.
I hate 311. you call up and you spend too much time listening to nonsense. Trying to figure out your parking ticket is even worse. 311 is nothing special.
Yes bloomy created 311, and for what? For 1 reason only so people can call 1 number to report violations! That’s only reason! Just like the socialist Obama and all the leftist he can’t tell that he waant to change America to a socialist country so he tells you that he’s trying to help you the little guy out by giving health care, same with bloomy he tells you that 311 was created to help NY’ers and it’s all about tickets and violations, the city has no intentions to help you just to collect taxes and make life difficult!
Actually Mayor Giuliani proposed the 311 system, in his State of the City address in January 2001.
And mayoral candidate Mark Green proposed it “again” on his campaigns in July 2001.
And after he was blasted for champion “someone else’s idea”, Green conceded that the mayor recommended 311 earlier, and said, “I hope now that I’m proposing it, [Giuliani] will look more seriously at it during his next six months”.
And now “again” who is taking credit for it?
Blah blah blah, do something about it! All of the people complaining, are doing zero to help! Bloomy is dedicating his life to helping our city, what have you done?
The idea of a chief executive personally answering calls from the public, is not new. In the Spring of 1963, two college students telephoned the White House. President Kennedy personally answered the telephone, on the day that they called. When he told them that it was the President, they couldn’t believe it.
When I call I get attitude by some “people” there.
typical 311, doesn’t know the answer, tranfer 5x, no speaka no english primo dues…
