Israel – Russian Immigrant Files Lawsuit for Being Denied Job Because She’s Not Jewish

    1

Israel – A 30-year-old single parent woman from the town of Ma’alot in northern Israel, who immigrated to Israel from the former Soviet Union, has filed a NIS 100,000 compensation lawsuit in Court against the Supersol retail marketing chain, on grounds of “racial discrimination.”

The woman was referred by the Employment Bureau to a Supersol-Deal branch in Ma’alot, where she was told by the director that there is a vacant position at the branch’s bakery. The director then asked her whether she was Jewish, when the woman replied that she was not Jewish, the director told her that if this was the case, she would not be able to hire her for the job, because the branch only hires Jews and has specifically asked the Employment Bureau to only send them Jewish applicants.

According to the woman’s attorneys, she was deeply offended by the racial discrimination she has experienced. And that the requirement that non-Jews do not bake goods being sold to Jews is racist.
The Supersol chain has not turned in its statement of defense, and hasn’t issued a response.
