The first has been sent in response to Israeli fears that ballistic missiles developed by Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, a political and military organisation in Lebanon, could hit sites in Israel, including air bases and missile launchers.

The submarines of Flotilla 7 — Dolphin, Tekuma and Leviathan — have visited the Gulf before. But the decision has now been taken to ensure a permanent presence of at least one of the vessels.

The flotilla’s commander, identified only as “Colonel O”, told an Israeli newspaper: “We are an underwater assault force. We’re operating deep and far, very far, from our borders.”

Each of the submarines has a crew of 35 to 50, commanded by a colonel capable of launching a nuclear cruise missile.

The vessels can remain at sea for about 50 days and stay submerged up to 1,150ft below the surface for at least a week. Some of the cruise missiles are equipped with the most advanced nuclear warheads in the Israeli arsenal.

The deployment is designed to act as a deterrent, gather intelligence and potentially to land Mossad agents. “We’re a solid base for collecting sensitive information, as we can stay for a long time in one place,” said a flotilla officer.

The submarines could be used if Iran continues its programme to produce a nuclear bomb. “The 1,500km range of the submarines’ cruise missiles can reach any target in Iran,” said a navy officer.

Apparently responding to the Israeli activity, an Iranian admiral said: “Anyone who wishes to do an evil act in the Persian Gulf will receive a forceful response from us.”

Israel’s urgent need to deter the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah alliance was demonstrated last month. Ehud Barak, the defence minister, was said to have shown President Barack Obama classified satellite images of a convoy of ballistic missiles leaving Syria on the way to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Binyamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, will emphasise the danger to Obama in Washington this week.

Tel Aviv, Israel’s business and defence centre, remains the most threatened city in the world, said one expert. “There are more missiles per square foot targeting Tel Aviv than any other city,” he said.

Although the Sunday Times is considered by many as a quality newspaper it is known to be quite anti-Israel and tends to treat information it gets from arab news agencies as gospel (excuse the pun, it’s deliberate) and regularly distorts information from Israeli correspondents.
Only a question of time before Obama discribes this as “unacceptable aggression” and “disproportionate”.

i know that the US does NOT EVER discuss submarines. NEVER!!! they will not answer reporters questions about it. they just say “we dont discuss our submarines”. why would anyone in Israel say such a report? unless, of course, it’s just not true.

All these types of reports are either made up or planted in the media by Israel. No reason to print this narishkeit.

The British Sunday Times publishes almost every week an anti Israel article, often with no basis of truth except for the fact that Israel has some capability and the rest is speculation.

A message to the Satmars and NK who thrive on distorting the concept of the shalosh shavuos (three oaths), mentioned in the Talmud Kesubos:

According to these three oaths, the Jews must not forcefully ascend to Eretz Yisrael, and the non-Jews must not excessively oppress the Jews. In the last century peace loving Jews paid outrageous sums to buy land in Eretz Yisrael, and were then attacked by Arab jihadists without any justification.

US law and the UN General Assembly (by a majority vote) recognized the right of the Jews to create a Jewish state in Eretz Yisrael. Arab Jihadists, allied with Nazi Germany, grossly violated the three oaths by waging a war of extermination against the Jews.

As a result of the genocidal crimes committed against the Jews by the Jihadists and their Nazi allies, Hashem in His kindness has provided the Jews scores of nuclear weapons which can totally obliterate these Jihadists. We are not seeing the violation of the three oaths by the Jews in Eretz Yisrael, on the contrary we are seeing their restoration.

Dear #5 . You made some serious errors. 1) The Satmar Rav explains explicitly that even if ALL the nations agreed to give the Jews Eretz Yisroel it would still be forbidden. 2) EVEN if this were not the case, the UN did not include very many countries. 3) Decisions of the General Assembly are not binding. Only decisions of the Security Council are binding.

Whether this story is true or not, is not the issue. The point is to keep our enemies guessing and not knowing either way is a deterrent in itself. Let the UK Sunday Times print away.

To #11 . Cut it out. The vast majority of the world’s nations were neither involved nor consulted on the recommended General Assembly vote. Furthermore, you are not familiar with the how the UN system works. If you don’t believe me, contact the UN yourself. General Assembly recommendations are NOT binding. Only Security Council decisions are binding. Ironically, the State of Israel is in violation of dozens of GE decisions and SC votes. And you can’t have it both ways. If the partition was binding, (which it wasn’t) then so are all the votes since then!

Security Council resolutions binding? And how are they enforced? There is an old joke going around diplomatic circles; “The UN gives hypocrisy a bad name”.

The arabs didn’t agree to the 1947 resolution. The medina started because the arabs lost the war they had been preparing for for years.

What #21 says is right. Whatever the umos ho’olom say EY belongs to and only to the jews.

Those umos kept the jews from their homeland for 2000 years with oceans of blood, rivers of tears, fire, torture, exiles, loot, pillage, murder, rape &c &c.
They kept us out of our legitimate homeland with bully tactics as I described. All they did in 1947 was stop their endless wicked persecution for a while after having committed against us the greatest crime of all time.

To #23 . I didn’t say anything about enforceability. I am talking about the legally recognized status. And I “shmeck” that you are Yair Hoffman. I have always wanted to correspond with Yair Hoffman because I believe you could be a tremendous asset on the anti-Zionist side of the picture. Let’s continue!

It is unbelievable to sit in safe havens where all of you are sitting and pontificate about gedolim and UN decisions. In Israel there are human being acheinu bnei yisroel and their safety supersede all the statements by the gedolim . Nuclear incineration is not a pretty picture and neither radiation sickness so stop sermonizing go back to you fancy homes in Boro Park, Flatbush and Long Island and say tehillim and give tzedoko and otherwise shut up. The fact is there millions of Yidden in danger and German Delphin submarines next to the atomic submarines are the most advanced underwater fighting vessels. Provided to Israel by Germany on loans waving the interests thanks to the incineration of my family and many others like me

To #5 . You made a huge error about the nations not oppressing so much. There is no way of objectively measuring how much is “too much.” Only Hashem can know that, and the Satmar Rav already explains that the two (Jews and nations) and not mutually dependent.

Israel is sourounded of arabs, Persians-their days is counted and they will be wiped of from the map by missiles and nuclear weapons by Iran, Syria Hamas, al-qaida, Hizbollah that fucked them up last war. Isreal is a small country with only 7 million people they have NO chance. Irans missiles and nuclear weapons can even reach europe so israel is a peace of cake and they know this, they are so scared and paniced that’s why they behave as they do. It’s sad that Persians saved the jews from babylon-the zionist are retarded and dirty.
